Jim DeVault was born in Santa Monica, California. At the age of eight, his parents returned to their roots in Texas, and Jim was raised there from that time on. Showing an interest in art and photography from a very early age, it was only natural that he would eventually become a filmmaker. He shot his first roll of film as a teenager, and has been active in film and video since that time. He also is active as a photographer, composer, author, and screenwriter.
