Filmmaker | Author | US Navy Veteran
I'm the founder of Mactavish Pictures, a motion picture development and production company with offices in New York City and Virginia.
We specialize in original long-form content, including non-fiction television shows, documentaries and feature films. Our projects have appeared on major broadcast networks, including PBS, HBO, Comcast, Pseudo Comedy Network, and ESPN, and at film festivals and theatrical screenings around the world.
I'm also the author of a humorous quasi-military guide for new fathers, published by Little, Brown and Company, and co-author of a Battle Ready; a biography of Navy SEAL medical officer Mark L.Donald, who was awarded the Navy Cross for actions in Afghanistan. To be published by St. Martin's Press in early 2013.
In 2009, I was honored to join the Lance Vaccaro Memorial Ride as volunteer Public Affairs Officer, co-organizer and documentarian. Lance was a Navy SEAL who gave his life for his country in 2008. In June 2010, four of his friends and a support team rode from Virginia Beach to Alaska and back in his honor, and raised funds along the way for the families of fallen SEALs. Along the way, we captured over 60 hours of footage, and nearly 30,000 high definition photographs. We met veterans and the families of deployed and fallen troops, and extraordinary Americans across the country. Ride for Lance is a documentary film about this amazing, and humbling, event.
I'm currently producing a documentary on Navy LT Michael P. Murphy, a Navy SEAL officer posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor in 2007.
