Sherief Elkatsha

Brooklyn, New York, United States

I was born in the U.S., raised in Cairo and live in Brooklyn. My first documentary, "Butts Out," about five smokers trying to quit, won Best Doc Award at the 2006 New England F.V. Fest. In 2007, I directed "Egypt: We are Watching You" about pre-revolution politics in Egypt, through the activist group, Shayfeen.com, as part of the “Why Democracy” series. In 2009, I was the cinematographer for "Cairo Garbage," part of "Cities on Speed." With your help, I will finish my 3rd film "Cairo Drive."
