Filmdoc!

I have been working in the film industry for 15 years as a director, editor, line producer, production manager and sound recordist. My films have screened at festivals in the U.S. and internationally. Initially trained as an academic, I chose to learn filmmaking because I wanted a challenging, creative and compelling outlet that would allow me to reach a larger and more diverse audience. I have always been passionate about social justice issues and one of my goals as a filmmaker is to effectively translate larger questions of representation, equity, identity, theory and practice into a compelling and engaging form. I strive to make work that builds bridges and opens up space. I enjoy challenging both my audience’s and my own perceptions and expectations, through using conventional documentary style to highlight the struggles of under-represented communities and experimenting with performance and formal structures to reframe an issue. I imagine myself working to change the world, ever so slightly, one frame at a time.
