Steam Dreamer

I am a dreamer with organizational skills. There is never a picture of just me because I'm always with someone - working with them volunteering with them, making things happen together.

Steampunk has always lured me with tea, and the wondrous, eager explorations of the people that lived in those times. I see a lot of the same fervor in modern steampunks and I love it - the inventiveness, the dreams that they just know they can tinker into being.

OctopodiCon isn't just my dream (rememebr, I never do anything alone), it's the dream of many other people who have worked for more than a year to get it to this point. They've all become dear friends to me along the way, and that's what steampunk really is - community. OctopodiCon is one of many steampunk conventions, but I think it offers connections into community that transcend just a convention.

It's a dream that I am privileged and honored to help bring into being.

I've spent a lifetime gathering up the skills and abilities to help create this program. I've written manuals for youth groups, led youth groups, worked in labs, done fieldwork, gained anachronistic skills in making apothecary items like mustache wax and old fashioned sodas. I became a Tea Master and learned how to make absinthe. But the most important skills I gained were the paperwork skills - how to organize events by volunteering for more than 30 years at the OU Medieval Fair, organizing school science fairs, organizing fundraisers for schools, getting a degree in business administration, and a PhD in Fairytales. Gotta keep dreams alive, yes?

And the people I work with are all smarter than me, skilled, wonderful, experienced.

We dream of steam and we want to steam up the future - together.
