Content Policy

To ensure that you can use the Indiegogo Platform in a safe environment, we make every effort to promptly remove prohibited content once we become aware of it and have verified it.

Prohibited  content means any information that, by itself or by reference to a specific action, is not in compliance with applicable law. Prohibited content may include, in particular:
-  materials that infringe copyrights,
-  discriminatory, offensive, or vulgar content,
-  content that incites hatred or otherwise violates personal rights,
-  presentations of Projects, Rewards, or related information that fail to meet legal requirements or infringe the rights of others.

By using the Platform, you agree not to provide, transmit, or publish prohibited content and to comply with applicable law, principles of social conduct, and Indiegogo’s content policy. You must not take any action that compromises the security of the Platform.

1. General Restrictions

You are prohibited from publishing or presenting content that violates generally accepted ethical or moral standards. In particular, you must not incite or promote hatred, violence, or any form of discrimination, including on the basis of nationality, race, gender, age, skin color, beliefs, religion, sexual orientation or worldview. You may not promote authoritarian or totalitarian systems, nor praise or support such behavior.

When posting information about another User or a Project, you must not disseminate false, misleading, or inaccurate information, nor may you attempt to disparage competitive offerings.

You may share personal experiences and opinions, provided that you maintain a constructive, respectful tone. Your opinions must not be manipulative or provocative, and must not incite negative behavior in others. Comments about a Project or Rewards should remain relevant and directly related to that Project. We may restrict the comments section to Backers, or restrict your commenting rights if you violate these rules.

2. Prohibited Categories of Content and Rewards

You must not provide unlawful content or offer unlawful Rewards, or any content/goods that may compromise the security of the Platform or harm others. The following are strictly prohibited:
-  fake/counterfeit content or goods, or any content infringing third-party intellectual property rights;
-  reselling: you cannot represent products created by others as your own creation, or act as a reseller of others’ products;
-  sexual or abusive content;
-  drugs and drug-related products;
-  weapons, explosives, or ammunition;
-  content encouraging the use of real money for gambling;
-  charities;
-  health and wellness, medication, and dietary supplements, including but not limited to:
  -  drugs and medication, including herbal and dietary supplements;
  -  any item claiming to cure, treat, or prevent an illness or serious medical condition. A serious medical condition is defined as an illness, injury, impairment, or physical or mental condition that involves either inpatient care in a hospital, hospice, or residential medical care facility, or continuing treatment by a health care provider;
  -  class III medical devices as defined by the FDA;
  -  products making false or misleading health claims, or marketed as “miracle cures”;
  -  promotion of products with names that are confusingly similar to an approved or unapproved pharmaceutical, supplement, or controlled substance;
-  financial products or services, including but not limited to investments, securities offerings, or profit-sharing schemes, or any type of campaign that could be considered an Initial Coin Offering (“ICO”), or that offers cryptocurrency, NFTs, or other digital assets in token form that may be deemed a securities offering;
-  alcohol and tobacco products;
-  political campaigns, political candidates, any government entities or political action committees (PACs)
-  illegal products or services;
-  pyramid schemes;
-  content prohibited by Indiegogo’s payment processing partners;
-  offensive or harmful content, including:
  -  mean-spirited content intended to humiliate or intimidate,
  -  content targeting protected groups,
  -  content encouraging real-life violence or hatred,
  -  content promoting illegal activity or giving advice that could result in harm or criminal acts,
  -  pornographic content,
  -  radical ideological content,
  -  gambling mechanisms,
  -  content requiring an “18+” rating,
  -  content disclosing personal data,
  -  direct attacks on other Users,
  -  political or religious agitation,
  -  content glorifying violence or hatred in an aggressive manner,
  -  promoting or representing any individual, group, or organization that promotes hate, or that uses hate symbols and/or hate terms on their website, as defined by the Anti-Defamation League. 

As a guideline, Indiegogo applies a standard comparable to the ESRB “Mature 17+” rating as the maximum permissible level of content.

3. User Responsibilities and Communication Rules

When using the Platform, you must:
-  refrain from any action that disrupts the functioning of the Indiegogo’s Platform or restricts access to other Users;
-  respect copyrights, patents, trademarks, and other rights of Indiegogo, other Users, and third parties, unless you have lawful permission;
-  refrain from violating the privacy of other Users by collecting, processing, or sharing their personal data without consent;
-  refrain from distributing unsolicited advertising or commercial information;
-  avoid sending repetitive spam messages or flooding;
-  avoid posting false, misleading, or illegal information, or links to prohibited content;
-  avoid posting sensitive personal or financial data (such as bank accounts or payment card details);
-  refrain from conducting unauthorized charitable collections;
-  ensure that the comments section of your Project page is used appropriately: you are required to address all comments unless such comment, or the Backer, violates our Terms;
-  respond promptly and truthfully to all questions posed to you by either Indiegogo or a Backer;
-  refrain from cross-promoting other products, services, or campaigns; communications with Backers or Creators must relate solely to the specific Campaign to which the contribution was made;
-  refrain from using any part of the Indiegogo platform to spam or self-promote your Campaign or Rewards to other users or contributors (including comments on other campaigns or other areas of the site open for commenting).

Indiegogo does not perform prior automated monitoring of prohibited content. We act when we are informed of potential violations.

4. Responsibility for Products

If you offer Rewards or any goods on the Platform, you are responsible for ensuring that they comply with product safety regulations. You must ensure that:
-  all products delivered are safe under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions of use;
-  products comply with all relevant harmonized standards and sector-specific requirements;
-  products are accompanied by required documentation, safety warnings, and conformity markings;
-  products are not counterfeit, defective, or otherwise unlawful.

Liability for defective or unsafe products rests solely with you.

5. Reporting and Enforcement

If you identify prohibited content, illegal activity, or a product that appears unsafe or non-compliant, you may report it using our online form. Indiegogo will promptly review reports and may notify the relevant party, restrict access, or notify authorities. Abusive or unfounded reporting may result in suspension of your right to submit reports.

If you violate this Content Policy, we may:
-  issue you a warning,
-  restrict your rights as a User,
-  suspending the ability to publish content on the Platform
-  remove your content, Rewards, or goods,
-  refuse onboarding of your project, cancel your campaign, or suspend your pledge manager,
-  to limit the User’s access to certain functionalities;
-  suspend or delete your account without prior notice in cases of serious or repeated violations.

We will inform you of restrictions applied to your account and provide justification. You may dispute the allegation of violation and file a counter-complaint within five (5) days of being notified.

Indiegogo may be obliged by law to act on orders from judicial or administrative authorities. If such an order concerns you or your content, we will inform you within the specified time, or otherwise at the moment when action is taken.

DISCLAIMER: INDIEGOGO IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR THE CONTENT, REWARDS, OR PRODUCTS OFFERED BY USERS ON THE PLATFORM. ALL RESPONSIBILITY FOR LEGALITY, SAFETY, AND COMPLIANCE RESTS SOLELY WITH THE PERSON OFFERING THEM. INDIEGOGO DOES NOT CONDUCT PRIOR OR AUTOMATED IDENTIFICATION AND VERIFICATION OF ILLEGAL OR INAPPROPRIATE CONTENT. HOWEVER, INDIEGOGO RESERVES THE RIGHT TO TAKE ACTION ON ITS OWN INITIATIVE IF IT BECOMES AWARE OF CONTENT THAT CLEARLY VIOLATES THIS CONTENT POLICY OR ANY APPLICABLE LAW. ANY ACTIONS TAKEN BY INDIEGOGO TO COMBAT SUCH CONTENT MAY BE MADE EITHER AFTER A VALID USER REPORT OR BASED ON INDIEGOGO’S OWN REVIEW, AND WILL BE CARRIED OUT PROMPTLY TO ADDRESS THE ISSUE.
