MY STORY
The last thing I did on the night of September 10, 2001 was put a roommate ad on the Village Voice website for my 2BR apartment in SoHo. The next morning I awoke to sirens and, in less than a couple hours, the world changed. "WTC View" is my first full-length play and is inspired by this true story. In the play, Eric, a downtown photographer, spends the weeks after the attack on the World Trade Center meeting potential roommate candidates for his apartment which used to have a view of the Twin Towers. Through Eric's struggle to find a roommate, deal with his ex-boyfriend and generally keep his sanity, the play reveals the untold story of life in lower Manhattan during the strange days of September 2001.
PRODUCTION HISTORY
This show had its original production in the 2003 Fringe Festival and, in only six performances, had a profound impact on audiences and critics alike. A few years later, I adapted it into an indie feature film, starring Michael Urie (ABC's "Ugly Betty"). Now, as we approach the 10th anniversary of 9/11, "WTC View" is returning to the stage for its off-Broadway premiere at the prestigious 59E59 Theaters, as part of their 5th Annual Americas Festival. Andrew Volkoff, who directed the show for its premiere in the Fringe, will be directing this production as well. The show will run from MAY 19-JUNE 12, a total of 16 performances.
HOW YOU CAN HELP
This is a non-profit production at a non-profit theater. Thus, we have to raise all our money from donations. The only way this show will go on is if we reach our fundraising goal. With crowdsourcing through IndieGoGo, we hope to meet this goal by encouraging people to donate. The great thing is we have some incredible incentives, like shout-outs and tickets and cast photos and DVDs. Also, unlike Kickstarter, all donations to "WTC View" are tax-deductible! So please....give what you can and help us bring this unique theatrical event to New York audiences this spring for the 10th anniversary of 9/11. Thanks so much!!!
THE CRITICS LOVE WTC VIEW

"WTC View" is my personal favorite of all the 9/11 plays Ive seenSloan
simply depicts New Yorkers soldiering on under the weight of seemingly
insurmountable grief.
Erik Piepenburg, Gay City News
Its been days since the lights came down and I still cant stop thinking about "WTC View", Brian Sloans immensely moving and poetic play about a gay mans search for a roommate in the dark days following 9/11. Sloan disproves the adage that it takes a generation of distance before the arts can truthfully address great tragedies. At turns stirring, mournful and, believe it or not, laugh-out-loud funny, "WTC View" is a major new play that deserves to be experienced by as wide an audience as possible.
Spencer Chandler, nytheatre.com
Reminiscent of "Kennedys Children", with a heavy dose of slice-of-life self-exploration, "WTC View" offers an overview of New Yorkers soldiering on in the face of unspeakable tragedy.
Top 10 Shows of 2003, Gay City News
This extraordinarily sensitive and surprisingly funny show
was one of the two best gay plays of the year. An extended monologue describing one mans escape was one
of the most powerful moments Ive seen on stage since Angels in America.
