„Wonderous Stories - from Xenophobia to Amazement”
was created for bringing a better understanding on Xenophobia in everyday life.
This project aims at bringing young people together to tell stories beyond formalized techniques, by using Media and Performance Arts as means of expression, with a focus on social and cultural aspects.
We chose to work with Xenophobia because we believe that every one of us experiences it, in one way or another. When we face something new or strange, there is a moment of choice:
to be amazed or to be fearful...
We want to explore the paths and subtilities that lead to this moment of choice.
We believe that Stories help shape Cultures and the interaction between cultures can create a broad spectrum of experiences, from xenophobia to amazement. This perspective gave us the motivation to reinvest stories with meaning as to deliver a powerful message, where this has been lost through formalized techniques.
Together with Olde Vechte Foundation, a non-profit, non-governamental organization in the Netherlands, and 8 International Partners from cultural and art organizations established in Lithuania, France, Denmark, Romania, Slovakia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland and the Netherlands, we will gather 45 young talented people to work with the theme of Xenophobia, by communicating ideas and feelings unpretentiously through storytelling and live performances.
the mission
We do not aim at fighting Xenophobia! The first contact with a different culture and behavior of a person is one of the most distinctive moments of experience and it creates an emotion (energy in motion). The energy is already there, so we are not focusing on fighting it but rather understanding it and giving it a new meaning!
Our mission is to stimulate an intercultural dialogue and to challenge mutual learning, by creating awereness on xenophobia and the exclusion effect it can have in a society and by encouraging the use of universal language of images and sounds, that is a language close to everybody, regardless of education, race, ethnicity, religion etc.
The final Outcome of the project will consist of 2 performances in the Netherlands, one in Ommen and one in another city in the Netherlands, which will be live streamed on the internet.
Once arrived back home, the participants will organize an International Video Production. A series of DVDs and prints will be designed and distributed across Europe with content related to the exchange and the performances presented.

what we need & what you get!
The project has a Basic Fund that can support us in realizing it. We still find ourselves in need for the amount of 5000$ in order to ensure the artistic quality of the project. We have invited Experts that will support the young artists during the for Workshop and Production days that will lead to the Performances.
We have invited experts from the team of choreographers of Random Collision (NL), the Media Specialist Kriszta Zsiday (HU) and the Media Educator & Youth worker Sofia Moudiou (GR). A team of music composers from CodArts University (NL) will also join for the Production & Performance days. But in order to financially support them,
we need your contribution!
