Wil Mathijs was born in 1977 in the wavy fruit plantations of Belgium. He borrowed the HI8 camera of his neighbour. He shot a first experimental video. 1995. After keeping bugging and begging his parents for more then 2 years, he was allowed to go to the Film Academy, Sint Lukas in Brussels where he was thrown out literraly by a frustrated professor, already in the first year. So, he continued on the Film, TV and Video Academy, KHLim in Genk, Belgium. Banana Films rang for a job for his first commercial as a production manager. Wil became a line producer on documentary and tvfilm projects, corporates, commercials, shorts and tvshows for several national and international companies and television channels such as BBC, RTBF, France 2, ZDF, SRG, ARTE, CANVAS, VPR0, VTM, VT4 and the internet.
Its so much fun for Wil to shoot all this stuff, but the search for the personal essence, the intrinsic nature, exists and remains.
