WHAT'S THE STORY ABOUT?

Smoking tobacco can contribute to major health,problems. In the United States and Canada alone, over 50 million people are spending over $50 billion each year for a product which could eventually kill them. The vast majority of smokers who attempt to quit fail.

Today virtually all efforts in tobacco control are prohibitionist in nature and are aimed at breaking nicotine addiction to prevent the use of all tobacco products, rather than focusing on reducing smoke exposure.

There is a different approach to saving lives – Tobacco Harm Reduction

Tobacco harm reduction describes actions that one can take to lower the health risks associated with smoking tobacco. Tobacco Harm Reduction strategies center around providing sufficient nicotine to maintain normal functioning while eliminating the harmful effects of inhaling smoke. A very important part of tobacco harm reduction is simply educating people about the risks of different sources of nicotine.

Electronic cigarettes are intended as an alternative to smoking tobacco cigarettes. They are not designed to treat nicotine addiction, only provide nicotine in a safer manner. Electronic cigarettes are a simple devices that affords the committed smoker nicotine intake through a battery-operated system.

Recent estimates indicate that there are approximately 2.5 million e-cigarette users in the United States.

This film will explore the concept of Tobacco Harm Reduction, e-cigarettes role and the community that has risen alongside it.

This documentary will cover:

·         History of E-Cigarettes

·         Personal Stories of e-cigarette users (also known as Vapers)

·         The Concept of Harm Reduction

·         The personalities of the community       

·         The Health implications

WHAT DOES THE PRODUCTION LOOK LIKE AND WHEN CAN I SEE THE MOVIE?

We Are Vapers will be a feature length documentary film. We estimate that it’s going to be around 70 to 110 minutes in length. It will be shot on-location across the east coast of the United States. We have scheduled the principal photography to start at the end of March2012. Final distribution of the film has not been decided as of yet.

HOW DO WE KNOW WE CAN PULL IT OFF?

·         The team has shot a Feature film production already and understands the challenges of creating a good film.

·         You might have seen Standalone, which was my first feature film I was a part of. After traveling the festival circuit, it was awarded several awards. Standalone on IMDB    Standalone at Amazon

·         Since then we have worked on and led many short films and corporate commercial projects.

·         We have the majority of the equipment for production and post-production and the experience to do this project.

·         We have the support and mentoring of Three Day Dawn LLC, an independent film production company.

·         Most importantly we have the passion, desire and drive to create this documentary,

WHAT DO I GET IN RETURN?

WHAT HAPPENS WITH MY CONTRIBUTION?

Your contribution will be solely used for the development, production and distribution of the film. Everyone on the project is working for free and we try to get as much material sponsoring as possible, but there is still a lot of stuff that needs to be paid for.  The primary expense is Travel. It will also go to such items as insurance, and other working material and expenses.

WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU EXCEED THE AMOUNT?

The amount is the minimum amount we need to maintain the quality we have in mind and travel to the places to shoot the interviews and footage we need. In the case that we exceed our goal and exceed our costs or if the project doesn't raise enough money and can't be produced we decided to donate it all without exception to the CASAA.
