Our Story
THE
WATER DREAM is a powerful and beautiful musical journey of redemption that
features giant whale puppets, an aquarium of real water, and Anthony Rapp
(Original Broadway cast and feature film of RENT). The musical blends the
contemporary with the mythological, illuminating
one man's journey of personal discovery through his trials in a mythological
world.
The first draft of The Water Dream was written in 2006, and since 2009 we have held 8 Industry/Public presentations. After each presentation we've undergone major rewrites to strengthen story and character development, incorporate feedback, and try new songs. What other Broadway-bound musicals do in workshops, out-of-town tryouts and previews, we've already started doing, to the great benefit of our show.
The Impact
Our team's goal is to bring this bold, imaginative new musical to Broadway in the 2012/2013 season. The additional funding raised through this campaign will allow us to make major leaps forward towards that goal.
What We Need & What You Get
We have three upcoming events that this campaign will help finance:
An updated demo recording session in October, featuring Anthony Rapp and new songs and lyrics from the latest draft of the script;
An invitation-only staged reading in December, where we hope to have an audience of theater professionals to generate more interest in the show;
A three-week workshop in March, where we will immerse our company in the theatrical elements of the production and give them their first opportunity to experiment with puppets, design concepts, and full physicality.
Your donation will help put us on the road to Broadway! In return, we can thank you with exclusive show-related gifts.
