Walks of Italy

Walks of Italy Founders Support Sustainable Tourism & Development

About Me

Walks of Italy began as a small-group and private walking tour company. Our tours won many accolades, including glowing reviews on TripAdvisor, the New York Times and in Rick Steves’ guidebooks. More recently we’ve enjoyed an extremely positive write-up in the Rick Steves’ Rome 2012 guidebook and collaboration with Showtime® as the tour operator for its winners in the “The Borgias” television show sweepstakes.

And that’s just the beginning. After all, unlike other tour companies, we offer:

-‐a group size that’s always 12 or fewer, which means it's not only more comfortable for you, but it has a lower impact on the environment around you (often times sensitive places).

-‐“add‐ons” that personalize private tours

-‐fluent English-speaking guides, all of whom are experts who love what they do -‐special access to areas that others simply can’t get to, such as closed areas of Pompeii, the “Secret Itineraries” of the Doge’s Palace in Venice, the Colosseum’s Underground & Top Tier, and the Sistine Chapel before it opens to the public

--skip‐the‐line access to sites like the Colosseum, Vatican, Florence’s Duomo, Uffizi and Accademia, Venice’s St. Mark’s Basilica, and more

--sustainable business practices—meaning you can feel comfortable knowing that by participating in any service with us, you're actively supporting and sustaining the very places you're visiting.

-‐off‐the‐beaten‐path itineraries, like a tour that visits Rome’s most intriguing catacombs and crypts in the city or an exploration of the “other” Venetian islands

-‐all-inclusive prices, meaning the price you see on the site is the final cost and all tickets and fees are included

We’re constantly expanding our tour offerings, especially to those areas not accessible to clients on their own. But thanks to the energy and knowledge of our team—not to mention our passion for sharing the best of what Italy has to offer—we’re now even more than a tour company. Now, we also offer:

--a 24-hour call center with Italy experts dedicated full-time to answering travelers’ questions—all at no cost, and regardless of their purchase of any products
--reliable, affordable transport connections across Italy, with carbon-offsets

--hands-on experiences, like a gondola-making workshop in Venice and food & wine tours in Tuscany

Our mantra is simple: At Walks of Italy, we think that travel should be enlightening, exciting, and individual. We reject crammed tour buses and the notion of the flag-waving guide. We know that exploration is what you’re here for... not being a lemming! That’s why we help our clients (and even those who aren’t our clients!) with their trips from start to finish. We know how to avoid the crowds and see something different (or see something famous in a “new” way). And those who travel with us agree: With Walks of Italy, they discover more of Italy than they ever thought possible.
