Volker Goetze toured West Africa, Europe and Asia. He is featured on numerous records and recorded with international artists such as Nana Vasconcelos, besides performing as sideman with Steve Lacy, Brian Lynch, Lenny Pickett, Peter Kowald, Franois Jeanneau, Craig Handy and others.
He recently signed a record deal with ObliqSound: a duo Project with Ablaye Cissoko, a master Kora-player and Singer from Senegal. The CD received raving reviews an is currently #2 in the College Radio Music Charts, just behind Buena Vista Social Club. The music was recorded in Africa. Part of the artists profit will go to TOSTAN, a human-rights Organization in West Africa.
An Orchestra CD recorded at the Clive Davis Studio in New York will be released in surround sound soon as well.
Besides music, Volker Goetze produces a documentary on Griots in Africa. Future projects includes writing music for a silent-movie of Fritz Lang including musicians from New York and Senegal.
