Who are we?
We're two violinists, a violist, and a cellist--all members of the Villiers Quartet, a string quartet based in London. We're an international mix of musicians who just happened to find each other one day while playing Haydn. You can learn more about us by visiting our website at www.villiersquartet.com.
Why are we raising money?
We're embarking on our new chamber music series, "Haydn and Beyond," where we'll perform six concerts of music by Haydn and other composers. Our goal is to raise $3,500 (GBP 2,000) to help produce these concerts, which are part of our quartet residency at St. Andrew's Church, in the London borough of Hammersmith & Fulham (H&F). Our first concert will take place on September 25th, 2011. For more dates and programming info, click here.
The money raised will help support these goals for our project:
- Production & start-up costs
- Local advertising & publicity
- Recording the concerts for our website
- Providing music for H&F communities, including mums & toddler's groups, visits to hospitals, and working with St. Andrews Homeless Project
- Launching our VQ New Works
Competition, which will promote the music of new composers
