What do Zombies and Transsexuals have in common?
Absolutely nothing.
In this music video you will not see FTMs shaving, you will not see transformation metaphors, and you will not see any before and after transition pictures.
You WILL see hot trans and queer zombies
You WILL see a few non-zombie hotties
You WILL hear my upcoming single "I've Been to Manhattan"
Queer and transgender artists of color are very rarely represented in mainstream media. When and if we are, it tends to be some sort of narrative about who we are and how we got the way we are. I am setting out to make a music video that celebrates my desires, passions, and random creative impulses. The zombies in this video will not be metaphors about race, class, or gender. They'll just be zombies being zombies... singing zombies.
Ultimately, my hope is that this video will be beautiful, funny, and a little scary. I plan on submitting it to film festivals, LOGO, zombie enthusiast websites, and many other venues in hopes that it will expose many different people to my music.
Please help me make this happen!
What do I need to make this happen?
Lots of moolah. As it turns out, making a music video costs lots of money. In my research, I found that decent quality independent music videos can average 20k. Through community and connections to talented and generous people, I have managed to budget this project at $6,000.
Here is a general break-down: $1,500 will go toward renting studio space, hiring musicians, and a recording engineer, and mixing and mastering. $2,000 will go toward hiring a crew for a two day shoot. $1,000 will go toward equipment for the shoot. $200 will go toward craft services for the shoot. $300 will go toward make up. $1,000 will go toward post-production and distribution.
You will receive great perks for your contributions!
Check out the perks to the right including StormMiguel Florez swag, a pre-release single MP3, an invitation to a private screening party, a private concert at your home (Bay Area, Seattle, and Albuquerque only), and a walk on role in the video!
