ABOUT
THE TRANSPERSONAL CINEMA PROJECT is a cinematic research and production initiative exploring the capacity of cinematic media to capture, express and induce healing, transformation, and transcendent experiences for cinematic creators and viewers.
Research and production will progress through three phases, each consisting of the design, implementation, and testing of a series digital video experiments focusing on specific areas of inquiry. These video experiments will be tested in various viewing platforms and mediums with both live and online viewers.
The current research phase, PHASE ONE – CINEMATIC RESONANCE, explores the capacity for cinematic media to resonate with, capture and express sentient presence, spatial atmospheres, and various creator, subject, and viewer realities. This phase of inquiry will consist of digital video experiments in five major areas of cinematic resonance: Sentient, Environmental, Spiritual, Interspecies, and Narrative Resonance.
These digital video experiments will be delivered through various mobile and web content modules, and twelve (12) interactive DVDs. (Images and descriptions of the individual experiments can be found in the IMAGES section under the GALLERY tab above.)

WHAT MAKES THIS PROJECT DIFFERENT
Filmmakers from the beginning of the history of the cinema have attempted to use the transpersonal or boundary-transcending capacity of the medium to transport audiences to other realms both within and outside of themselves. Recent advances in cinematic media technologies and psychological research suggest that cinematic media has the potential capacity to induce healing, transformation, personal growth, and social and cultural evolution. The Transpersonal Cinema Project is a groundbreaking research initiative seeking to investigate and advance these powerful transformational potentials of the cinema by integrating the latest theories, practices, and technologies of cinematic media, creativity, human perception, and consciousness.

Mark Allan Kaplan’s VOICE IN EXILE (Opening Dream)
Mark Allan Kaplan created the award-winning film, VOICE IN EXILE, as an experiment in the creation of a personal film through the transpersonal filmmaking process of the cinematic vision quest.
