The Film
‘TOM’ is a 13 minute drama centered around a man in his
early 30’s and is set on the day that he takes his new girlfriend Emma around
to meet his parents for the first time. As the story continues, the
narrative splits in 2 and we move from the present day at Tom’s parents house
to a parallel story charting Tom and Emma’s relationship from the onset up to
the present day.
There are a couple of unexpected twists along the way and
the story spins off in a different direction and comes to an unexpected
conclusion. The idea began as a fairly simple story but as I’ve developed the script further
it’s turned into something with much more depth and at its core it’s really
about loneliness, loss and isolation.
I believe that the film will resonate with many people as
it’s a situation that they may have been in or may find themselves in, one day
in the future.
The Filmmakers
My name’s Tony Webber, I’m a filmmaker based in the UK and
the Writer/Director of the short film ‘TOM’. I started writing the script in
the summer of 2011, I sent it away for critique and its received excellent
feedback and I’ve now refined the story, tweaked the dialogue and have a draft
that I feel is ready to go into production.
I work with some really talented, supportive people and we
collaborate with a common goal of making great films. As a team we have made
several short films over the past few years, which have screened at various
film festivals across the world. I believe in the script and I’m committed to
getting the film made, it’s a universal story that should do well on the
festival circuit.
Up to now I've been making films without funding,
working with an enthusiastic, committed team who get involved because they like
the scripts or just for the experience of being involved in a film.
Plans for the film & how you can help
The goal with ‘TOM’ is to create an excellent quality, high
production value film that looks and sounds like it was made for 10 times the
budget. Once the film's complete the aim to try and gain entry into major film
festivals around the world around and maybe even give us a shot at winning
awards.
To do this we need your help.
Myself and my immediate crew are involved in this project because we believe in the script and want to see the film made but as this is going to be a more ambitious project we will need to find additional crew and equipment to raise the production values.
A contribution from you would enable us to pay for catering,
accommodation, travel expenses, cast, additional crew (pro sound recordist & hair/makeup artist) van hire, insurance,
equipment hire and post production (pro grading and sound mix)
Principle costs for a 4 day shoot are $8600 (£5500 approx) –
