ABOUT ME
I am a Spanish photographer currently based in Hong Kong. I am described as curious, impatient and stubborn. These characteristics have helped me persevere in some of the most difficult story gathering, waiting for that particular moment, where my captured image tells the story.
To be a photographer helps me to perceive the world not as how it is but the way it is lived in the places I go to, without boundaries to enable me to comprehend my surroundings, to respect other cultures and their way of thinking. Photography helps me to discover new horizons and to value our present as a historical event.
I firmly believe that each person has his/her own unique story, therefore, each of us has a fascinating story to tell.

THE PROJECT
The small republic of Timor Leste has undergone countless
upheavals and changes in the last 30 years since Portuguese control over the
territory was lost to Indonesia and less than a decade ago, it had to
go through one difficult process of independence. In the last decade alone, the
birthing pains of a new republic, a society that is finally rid of its colonial
masters is still struggling to a point of bloodshed.
The country maybe poor, subject to a United Nations observation & monitoring team but it said to be lying in one of the very few last rich oil fields in the world. Scarred and battered through the years of civil chaos, the struggling government is still beset with countless and numerous problems in building a nation, in making an identity as a people and ably managing resources ripe for exploit.
East Timor is a test case, perhaps one of the very last few nations in the world during this modern era to build for itself an identity as a nation, blended in the farthest corner of Southeast Asia, in a region dominated by Muslim countries.
Documenting the changes and developments of Timor Leste at this stage will serve as the point in time wherever the nation will proceed, from current dismal state or to one of Asias roaring tigers. Part of the investigation is to cover the crimes, mistakes and problems besetting the young republic and what future lies for the rest of its people.
NGOs, government bodies, local journalists and individuals are among potential contacts that can help me get the goal of picturing a very little known country and the troubles it faces because of the still blurred crimes against humanity that happened there.

WHAT DO YOU GET
Covering Timor Leste is an opportunity to document in photographs for future generations what is happening to the young Republic. Its centuries old history struggling to establish itself as an independent and sovereign nation brings so much interest for the future.
The nation is rapidly transforming itself and building a society after decades of war, first struggling against the Portuguese and later against . The project will enable countless interest organizations access to images of the present before the nation transforms itself to possibly one of the dynamic nations of and the Pacific basin.
The photos can be shared to other projects and groups, that can be utilized for other informational purposes other than posterity and remembrance. There are possibilities that the photo documentary could be published and shared in general circulation traditional media.
The materials will also be stored and shared in my personal website, Facebook and Vimeo for others to witness real time the story of the people of Timor Leste including updates on Twitter.
