Our Story
About a year ago, we set out to make a short film that would show what could be done when music video director Chad Rullman (Mastodon, Neurosis, Zoroaster, etc) was put to the challenge of creating something truly scary. A dark, eerie short story came together; along with some amazing costumes, a talented cast and crew, and a slew of very supportive horror movie fans.
We were fortunate to have raised some funds online and put a dent in the bill for the costume pieces, set construction materials, and varied pre-production elements. We never quite reached the minimum funds necessary to produce the short, but nonetheless, our momentum continued.
The more I spoke with horror fans and film fans, and the more support we gained from folks hearing about our project, the more I was inspired to flesh-out the world of Thrall into a full feature-length story. I realized I was not alone in my disappointment in what has become of American horror films in recent years, and I was inspired to create something to shake up the system.
Thrall is no longer a short film, it's been expanded into a full-length feature screenplay. At this point in the game, I have some terrifying costume pieces designed by Louis Fleischauer, a solid screenplay, and the will to make this project the breakout feature film of my career.
Shooting this film gorilla-style, or super-low budget would not do the story justice. I need to procure proper indie film funds and give the story the breathing room it requires to deliver the scares and make an impact.
Our goal is to produce a short teaser to showcase the look and style of Thrall's dark themes, and the indescribable costume designs. Additionally, we'll be taking atmospheric still photographs of the characters in costume. The photos and teaser are being produced to aid in my pitch to potential investors and executive producers.
If you are a horror film fan, an indie film fan, or just someone who appreciates artists who set out to shake things up... Please help us produce this teaser and photo shoot. Help bring Thrall to life.
The Impact
As a fan of horror movies myself, I've written Thrall to be the kind of movie I've been craving. Thrall is not a remake, a sequel, or a retread of hackneyed horror icons. Containing plenty of classic horror elements, and a bold, unique vision not yet seen on screen, Thrall is posturing up to give even the most jaded horror fan nightmares.
It is my hope that Thrall will bring horror fans the same thrill I felt the first time I saw "Hellraiser", "The Exorcist", "The Shining", or "Saw" (the original). I fully understand why production studios make the sequels, remakes, and retreads... but it's time for a change.
What We Need & What You Get
We aim to raise $2,500 for this project. The funds will go toward our lighting and camera gear, the remaining costume pieces needed, set materials, set dressing and prop rental, on-set production gear, and modest compensation for our cast and crew. We have a very talented group of industry professionals coming together to work on this project. Help our cause and become part of the team bringing a new vision to horror.
Other Ways You Can Help
Please spread the word and help Thrall get off the ground. Use the quick-link buttons to connect to us on Facebook, Twitter, etc. With today's crazy economy, it is harder than ever for artists to bring their vision to fruition. I want to produce this movie for film fans who are as disappointed in the status quo as I am. Every little bit helps; pitch in a few bucks or even just shout-out on the social networks. It all makes a difference.
