The Filmmaker:
Our director, Anna Gutto, is a Norwegian born actress and producer with substantial recognition in both theater and film. Her recent work include several leads in feature films as well as starring opposite Peter Stormare (Fargo, Minority Report, The Great Lebowsky) in Gone with the Woman, directed by Academy Award-nominated director Petter Nss. The film was Norways contender for the ACADEMY AWARD-nomination for Best Foreign Language Film and won TOP FEATURE AWARD at the Hollywood Film Festival. The Kangaroo is her directing debut.
Get Other Rewards:
You can read up on our rewards on the right, but here is a taste: You can get a dress by the designer who designs red carpet dresses for Sarah Jessica Parker and who also designed the dress for Marina Abramovic at the MoMA earlier this year. Or, be invited to a private dinner at the directors apartment with an acute selection of the directors inner circle of friends. If you find our project and talent the kind that you want to associate yourself with at a more intimate level, come on as a producer you will in that capacity become and integral part of our team and everything we do, including festival invitations, special parties, private screenings and so on.
About The Kangaroo:
The Kangaroo was filmed over four days on location in Long Island, NY, in August. You can hear more about our adventures in the video above.
The film is about a little girl, Maya, who is super excited about her dad coming home from Australia. Her teenage siblings are annoyingly negative and her mom is a passive interruption blocking her from making this day into the best day ever; the day dad's coming home! Little Maya is in for a surprise
The Kangaroo is a coming-of-age story about that moment everyone has experienced in life - the moment when you understand that the world is not the way you thought it would be. It is tough a tough realization, but with a fuller understanding of the world, comes the ability to better connect with the people around you. The people who love you.
New Talent:
The production features some extraordinary new talent, including teenage actors Jimmy Brewer and Marisa Pierini, and our young protagonist, Megan Doyle. When you become part of our team, you will be able to take part in the exciting adventure it is be there from the beginning of new talent about to soar. Our little Mozart, Megan Doyle is also a singer-songwriter in the style of Regina Spekter and Lenka. You can hear the theme song for The Kangaroo on our website: www.thekangaroofilm.com.
