The Film

The Eternal Not is the darkly comic story of Bertram, a young man, ensnared by, and trying to escape from his cunning and heavily pregnant wife Helena. The story is set within the visual juxtaposition of the real and the surreal.

Written by Lucinda Coxon (The Crimson Petal and the White BBC Series) The Eternal Not is a farcical tale of what happens when there is an inequality in love. The film explores the magical hold of one person over another and the power of imagination.

It is the graduation project of director Joe Spray from the London Film School.

What We Need & Why

We managed to shoot this film on a shoe string budget allocated by the London Film School. This film really could not have been shot without the dedication and passion of all the cast and crew members. Despite a small budget and limited time, we have achieved a beautifully shot film and this is thanks to the kind hearts and generous spirits of everyone connected with this film.

We are now in post production and need completion funding to bring it all together. Editing, colour grading, sound mixing and music are all expensive but essential details of the end product.

The colour grade will ensure that we get the most from every frame of Chris Thomas' amazing photography. The sound mix will be Dolby Digital to create an all encompassing soundscape to that matches the images of the film. Last but by no means least, award winning film composer Samuel Pegg will be writing an original score, played and recorded live with musicians from the Royal College of Music.

To pay for all this we aim to raise $2500 (approximately 1500).

The money will help us to complete this remarkable film and enable us to screen in film festivals around the world in Spring 2012. Though this is costly, it gives us the opportunity to reach a wider audience to share a unique story that has already captured the imagination of so many!
