Our Epic Story
Hi. Hello. How are ya!? My name is Lear Bunda, and I am a filmmaker based out of Atlanta. I work at Cartoon Network's [adult swim], where I edit shows such as Squidbillies and Aqua Teen Hunger Force. I have written a teen comedy feature film called, "The Space Coast", and I am here to raise funds for the production of this feature. The plan is to shoot over the course of two weeks in July in Brevard County, Florida. This area is also known as the space coast because it houses The Kennedy Space Center (more commonly referred to as NASA). For those of you that have never been, the space coast is a one-of-a-kind place that has amazing natural diversity. The swamps, beaches, and wildlife allow for a wonderfully unique atmosphere. The Kennedy Space Center is placed directly in the heart creating an interesting mesh of surf culture and technology. It is where many of us involved with the project grew up before going out into the world. During the shooting of this movie the last shuttle will be launching from The Kennedy Space Center. The Space Coast movie is a way for us to come back and use our skills to immortalize this transitional moment in history. We have a crew of experts mobilized and are currently in pre-production. We need your help so we can have lift-off.
The Impact
With the shuttle program ending the space coast
is going to experience
massive change, layoffs, and a decline in tourism. We
want to capture
what it is like here before it is too late. This movie is a
colossal
undertaking. It is our Mt. Everest. We have trained
our whole lives
for this project. If this campaign succeeds, we will be able
to make
the film as well as support the crew, actors, musicians, artists, and all
the talented people doing what they love.
What We Need & What You Get
We have budgeted out this entire production. I am not being
paid. There
are also a few others refusing to be paid. We want to
see this movie
on the big screen. The money is to cover the costs of
crew, talent, equipment rental, travel, lodging, insurance, music
licensing, security,
locations, props, hair and makeup, special effects, an
animal trainer,
and meals. We feel that with a small team we can shrink the
production
crew size so we can accomplish a lot of shooting in a short
period of
time. Currently the only other funding source we have is my
savings. I would prefer to not max out my credit card, but I will if
I have to because I believe in this film.
With whatever we can raise here, we will use to its fullest
extent. We
also want to give our supporters private screenings when we
are finished, shirts, and copies of the film. The more you
want to be
involved, the more we can figure out how to get you
involved. If you
want to experience the process of making a movie, we can
arrange that as
well.
