Our Story
Executive Producers M. Cole Jones and Major Goldstein need of your help! Along with writer Jade A. Holmes, we are currently in development for a documentary surrounding the unveiling of the of the Martin Luther King, Jr. National Memorial in Washington. It is our intent to use this historic event as a platform for young adults to channel their "inner king."
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. is a fundamental figure in American
culture. His vision emboldened the
conscience of generations to come and his speeches served as the catalyst,
marching our country to a renewed focus on civil liberty. After his untimely death in 1968, Dr. Kings vision for
America left a challenge for all to recognize the countrys true power lies in
the commitment to making a difference through action.
KingME, embarks on a journey across the country to explore
the experiences, hopes, and movements inspired through the living legacy of
Martin Luther King, Jr.s dream. The unveiling of the Martin Luther
King, Jr. National Memorial on October 16, 2011 is the focal point of KingME. The memorial is a physical representation of how Kings deeds, after his death, ignited the flame of civil liberty. Today, this same spirit motivates a new generation of leaders to keep the fight against injustice burning
endlessly through monumental acts in their communities. It is our hope that KingME will
continue inspiring Americans to identify, pursue, and embody their
inner king by encouraging them to visualize their dreams, and through a
commitment to action, secure a lasting legacy in their own right. KingME parallels Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.'s ability to champion
his dream through action as something we all are capable of doing in our own lives!
Principal photography for KingME is set to begin on August 24, 2011 in DC. From there we will travel across the country to interview and shadow current trailblazers and the next generation of leaders.
What We Need
The total budget for KingME is $40,000. This amount covers travel for the interview tour, equipment, and post production costs such as editing and music licensing. Concurrently, we have submitted proposals to Fortune 500 companies requesting sponsorship of $5,000 each.
