SWISS Trilingual School is a total language immersion small private elementary school in Atlanta, Georgia Classes are taught within the Chinese (Mandarin), Spanish, Japanese or French languages. Every student receives English as a third language, and in our American schools receive 5 hours or less of English per week. Our school originated in New York in 2004, for the purpose of teaching true cultural / linguistic appreciation to children. Since then, our school has grown into a place where children are safe to learn many more important things about life.
Our goal of $150,000.00 will allow us to continue comfortably at our Atlanta school, and allow us to bring this gift to other commuities. We would have the honor to educate and affect the happy futures of children of various backgrounds who actually deserve and appreciate it! We also need to provide more materials to the classroom, and garner media attention to our school, which could attract more independent and caring families, to increase our student body, and stabilize our school and mission! Donors who are interested can receive free video language learning tools starring our students, or 20% discounts to our Saturday School classes. If we are unable to reach our goal, the money donated will be used to pay teachers, for advertising, and marketing tools.
What We Do & WHY
PEACE PROFOUND, including life appreciation, self love, compassion for others, respect for the earth, personal balance, love for everyone, personal responsibility, a choice for happiness, and laughter have become main subjects at our school! Our students are peaceful, wise, thinking, courteous, compassionate, funny, happy, creative little people who each adore math and speak three languages fluently. These are the results of our environment, rather than a cold direct goal.
Many parents have become attracted to our school because of our expert ability to teach additional languages to fluency, like no other school. However, we have been misunderstood, and too many families are looking for their children to become elite, instead of peaceful, charitable members of society. This is not our purpose, and these types of relationships do not last when it becomes obvious that the school and the parent have very different goals for the student. We are passionate about what we know to be the natural evolution in education, but it is a struggle financially each day to continue this mission, as educational pioneers.
We hope to continue to create this type of passionate experience for kids in many more places, so that the world can grow up together. We have recently opened a small program in Paris, France, and are incorporated to open a school in Honduras in 2013. We will also be opening a small home school program in New Orleans this year, with hopes to open a full-time school by the end of the year. Our goal is to eventually have at least one school on 6 continents, so that our students may travel the globe, helping, teaching, and learning what the world would like to teach them!
Although we are a private school, most of our families are on very partial scholarships, as it is more important for us to provide an education to families who understand the impact of acquiring a real life education, not just high standardized test scores. Even on a budget, it takes a lot of money to educate an elementary age child naturally, and within 3 languages. As well, our school concept has never been done before, and not many families fully get the scope of what we do! Our dedicated families work hard to keep our school a success, but in a tough economy, we worry we may have to close the doors on our Atlanta campus.
If there is enough support out there for us to continue, we know that we must happily do that. However, if there is not enough support and understanding for what we do, then we may have to enrich kids later in life when the understanding and appreciation for what we have to offer the world is finally here. Our ears and hearts are open.
Our school is actually located in the previous Obama camp of Atlanta, and we happen to think that this is not a coincidence. We see our campaign for education in a similar light, and we operate in many similar ways, as well. If it worked for Obama, it can work for us, right? If you are unable to donate big, please send anything you have! Also, PLEASE spread this to everyone that you know! The future of education continues to look like, "Waiting For Superman", so every penny counts towards changing that outcome!
