About Arkham Sanitarium

Arkham Sanitarium is an anthology of three H.P. Lovecraft short stories: The Haunter of the Dark, The Shunned House and The Thing on the Doorstep.

Lovecraft's stories, whilst renowned and appreciated by fans all around the world have had a tough time in their adaptation to the screen - typically his short stories are extended into feature-length screenplays, added to, and changed beyond recognition - Arkham Sanitarium is different.

As Lovecraft fans ourselves, we set out to make a movie that's incredibly faithful to the source material - our setting is 1930's Arkham, Massachusetts, and our characters should be instantly recognisable to anyone that's read the stories the film's based on.

With Arkham Sanitarium, we've written and produced the Lovecraft film we've always wanted to see and we hope you'll help us complete it so that HPL's work finally gets the screen adaptation it deserves.

The Impact

We've been incredibly lucky so far in the production of this movie - we managed to assemble a great cast and crew who have dedicated a lot of time and energy into getting this film made.

A large amount of the post-production work (editing and some visual effects) are being undertaken by the director at minimal cost to the project - unfortunately his expertise only goes so far and the film can't be completed without the help of additional industry professionals.

What We Need & What You Get

Principal photography has already completed on the movie (which, up to this point has been self-funded) - in order to complete Arkham Sanitarium we need to raise money for the score and audio/visual post-production (foley, sound-mixing and digital visual effects). We also plan to do 3-4 days additional filming.

Contributors to Arkham Sanitarium will get a number of perks ranging from a hand-written letter of thanks from the director to access to behind-the-scenes material and updates to actual props used in the making of the film.

In addition everyone that contributes to the film will be entered into a draw to win the director's journal - a one-of-a-kind souvenir of the making of Arkham Sanitarium packed with story breakdowns, script notes, character biographies and sketches!
