Our Story

Film is powerful!  We at the Dream Power Foundation have decided to use that power to counter the negative media influences on kids the music, movies, and video games that glamorize violence, crime and negativity.   Our Children deserve better!  To that end, WE ARE MAKING A NON-PROFIT DRAMATIC FEATURE FILM FOR CHILDREN CALLED STAR KIDS that will presents everyday youth as positive role models who learn and practice the values of Peace, Love, Truth and Unity.

The film will be distributed free to at-risk kids with the help of the many community organizations that work with them, such as the Boys & Girls Clubs, schools and community centers.  Although our initial focus is local, our goal is that one million kids around the world will ultimately see the movie.  But thats not all, to help older kids, we have created

Kids Helping Kids: THE STAR KIDS FILM AND INTERNSHIP PROGRAM, which pairs film students from local film schools, with at-risk teens from our community!  Together they are the film crew of the Star Kids Movie.  This program gives film students an opportunity to help their community.  At the same time, it gives at-risk teens from our community a chance to explore the film industry, gain valuable job experience and most importantly, help others.   

WE REALLY NEED YOUR HELP

To make a feature length film of this level is a huge undertaking and on top of that we have to finish shooting it this summer.  There are many fun ways to get involved:   If you can, right now, buy a DVD, tickets or make a cash donation.  Donate some equipment, a product or a service.  Volunteer.  Own a business? Fundraising Goal

We need to raise $25,000 towards the production of the movie this summer.

Funds raised will be used to cover the cost of production: Equipment (camera, light and sound rental), location fees, crew stipends and pay, costume creation and design, props, vehicle rental, production office expenses, feeding the crew, transportation, parking, licenses and permits, props, software, internet tools, communication tools, film studio rental.

This indiegogo campaign is just one leg of our fundraising plan which also includes, fundraisers, events, garage sales, dinner fundraisers, a letter writing campaign, business sponsorships and grants etc.

No matter how much we raise or don't raise we plan to shoot the script as scheduled. It will only be an issue of quality, which is where you come in.

Star kids can be a really good movie and have a positive influence on thousands of kids worldwide.  But to do this we need to produce it with high production values and unfortunately those production values cost a lot of money.
