What?

It's 2111, and the most evil woman has finally destroyed the Universe. In a few minutes, everything in existence will disappear. Suddenly it doesn't seem like such a good idea.

She's 130 years old and can't really remember why she wanted to erase all of creation in the first place. It's too late, though. She can't stop it now. But she can stop it earlier.

So she and her pet UCA (the Universe's Cutest Animal) step back in time to the year 2011. She'll kidnap her 30-year-old self, at the prime of her life, before she was overcome with wickedness. Together they'll foil 100 years of her own evil plans. She'll save the Universe from herself.

That's the story of Special Relativity, a new Internet radio sci-fi comedy from Emmy-award-winning writer/producer Seth Madej

This IndieGoGo campaign will fund the first season of the series, a three-episode arc with over an hour of content.

Why?

I've been a professional writer for over 15 years. I've written for Nickelodeon, BBC America, Cartoon Network, and more. I've created half a dozen pilots.

Special Relativity is the best concept I've ever had.

And yet instead of sitting in a development exec's office, I'm here on IndieGoGo, trying to turn Special Relativity into a free Internet radio series. That's because radio is the only medium that that can hold what Special Relativity needs: everything in time and space.

I like Special Relativity too much to sit on it for years waiting for someone to pay to me to make it. I want to hear it now. I think other people will want to hear it too.

Isn't "Internet Radio" Just Another Term for "Podcast"?

Yes.

Where Does the Money Go?

This campaign will fund the production of the first season of Special Relativity -- a three-episode arc with over an hour of audio content. The episodes will be downloadable and shareable. Funds will also be used to create and host a web site for the series.

The initial $8000 will also cover production start-up expenses so that later seasons can be more cheaply produced. If all goes as planned, season two should cost forty percent less.

Please note: I firmly believe that artists should always be compensated for their work. Everyone (other than me) who participates in this project will be paid. Actors will receive AFTRA minimum or higher. Composers, engineers, etc. will all be paid a market rate.

Other Ways You Can Help

Please spread the word about Special Relativity through Twitter and Facebook.

After you donate to the project, please write a brief testimonial in the Comments section about why you support it. Think of it as a blurb for a book cover. I'll share some testimonials on the home page and on my web site.

About Seth

It's really quite astonishing that Seth Madej, the disadvantaged son of a genetically modified turnip, somehow climbed his way up the show-business ladder to become a senior creative director at Nickelodeon. Even more remarkable is the fact that he did so without seeing the genitals of anyone noteworthy (though once at a party he was forced to give up his seat to parts of Kim Kardashian). Nevertheless several network executives call Seth the funniest writer they know. Most of them are happy to attest to that now that they're no longer locked in his basement.

Seth Madej (whose last name is pronounced MADGE-ee) has 15 years experience writing, producing, and performing award-winning projects for television, radio, print, stage, and the Web. From 2002 to 2009 Seth was a primary creative force for Nickelodeon's teen network, The N, where he won an Emmy in 2007 and created the single-camera comedy pilot Riot Life. He also co-hosted over 150 episodes of The N-Sider Podcast as "The-Seth," which a cult of teen girls still listens to over and over, primarily to hear Seth's remarkably sexy speaking voice. Seth has performed original comedy since 2003 and in 2009 was nominated for best male stand-up comedian in New York. Readers of The Huffington Post recently voted him the funniest bearded guy on Twitter.

On September 27, 2009 Seth and his wife Sophie embarked on a trip around the world. The trip was cut short after Seth suddenly experienced mysterious and crippling psychological symptoms. He was diagnosed with obsessive-compulsive disorder, a disease he soon discovered he'd suffered from for 30 years. After months of cognitive behavioral therapy, Seth took control of his OCD for the first time. Three weeks later, he moved to Los Angeles to become a full-time TV comedy writer.
