Our Story

Mori-Dog Movies is an independent film group based out of Cary, NC created in 2008. About a year ago, Simon Says was a concept for a short film. As the script was developed, it became a feature-length project. We had a successful pre-production fundraiser in April of 2011 and worked to complete the script and cast the project. Shortly after casting and holding a table read of the script, tragedy struck my family with the death of Moria, my dog and namesake for the company. We put the project on hold temporarily in attempt to regroup and try another fundraiser. We were unsuccessful. Now, we are trying a different fundraising site and adding additional scenes to the script, as well as locking down the first day of filming for early January. 2011 was a difficult year, but we're facing the new year head on and looking to make a fantastic film and get it out to the public in 2012.

The Impact

We're trying to bring a unique story to the independent film community. At the same time, I am a huge fan of Alfred Hitchcock's film style...the thrilling stories, clever twists, and the telling a horrifying tale without all the blood, guts, and gore of today's slasher flicks. We'll still have some of that, but the story comes first. We have an amazing cast and crew ready to go, but we need the money to feed them. An actor with a full belly is a happy actor.

What We Need & What You Get

I watch films that boast $50 million or more budgets and think "where does it all go?". If I were to raise $50,000, I believe I could make a fantastic film. But we're going to start with an attainable goal. No matter what we raise, it's all going to feed the cast and crew. The more we raise, the better we can feed everyone. Anything extra will go towards reimbursing actors for gas and makeup expenses. We're not looking to have steak and lobster dinners, but something better than granola bars and bottled water would be fantastic.
