here's the skinny...

the breakups are an indie-rock/powerless pop band from the Los Angeles Basin.

We've been working on our first full length album for longer than we really care to say, but it has been a labor of love and we are happy to tell you that it is finally mixed and ready for mastering.  We're very proud of it.  We feel like mothers who just gave birth to a 12-track, 48-minute LP.  Several past members of the band play and sing on it as well as a number of very talented friends from other L.A. bands.  It's been a communal experience and we're very excited to see it finally nearing the finish line.

And speaking of community and finish lines, that's where you guys enter the picture.  With the album mixed and ready for aural consumption, all we need from you guys is a bit of help paying for mastering and duplication (printing CDs).  These are the two final, and somewhat expensive, steps ahead of us in order to have a completed record that you guys can listen to over and over again with your family and/or dogs and cats.

We know that times are tough and nobody wants to go throwing their money around willy-nilly, but if you've heard our music in the past and you've enjoyed it, we think you'll sink your teeth into this album even more than anything of ours you've heard before.  And if you've never heard a single note of breakups music, this album will be a perfect introduction and, no doubt, the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

All of the money we raise will go directly toward mastering and duplication.  If we manage to raise anything beyond our goal we will put that toward publicity and trying to push the record to press and radio, which is a whole other can of extremely expensive worms that we won't even go into.
