We developed SHACKLED as a way of showcasing the theme, tone and aesthetic of our forthcoming feature THE FORETELLING. SHACKLED will be a short film in its own right, but it will also be used as a promo to help finance the feature.
OUR CAMPAIGN:
All we need to get SHACKLED off the ground is your support!
We have the script, the director, and an abundance of industry contacts and knowledge, but the next stage is where the cold hard cash is needed!
This is why we're here. All the funds we are raising here will go to shooting the film. Gear (camera & accessories, sound, lighting), permits for locations, cab/van rental, building our caravan set, food - yes, we plan on feeding the generous, hardworking crew, the list is long.
We would love to raise $18,000 to get this film made to an impeccable standard. This amount of money would enable us to pay our cast and crew, hire a top-of-the-line studio in which to build the inside of a beautiful gypsy caravan and would also ensure we don't have to compromise on equipment.
HOWEVER, life is about compromise, so we have set a target of $10,000. With a little begging, borrowing and stealing, as well as waiting for our generous cast and crew to free up some time around their busy paid schedules, this amount will ensure this film can still meet the production standards we need.
Whether or not we raise the full amount, SHACKLED will be made, but by helping us reach our target you will be ensuring we have the capacity to create this atmospheric and visual short film with the highest possible production value. This will not only guarantee a great short film with potential for festival success but, by reflecting our vision for THE FORETELLING, it will help us secure the investment we need to bring the feature to production.
No matter how big or small, your contribution to SHACKLED is greatly appreciated. Everyone who helps us will get a 'SPECIAL THANKS' credit on the short film. The size will be proportional to the largest and smallest single contributions...So the more you give, the bigger your name will be!
So please help us by donating anything you can spare, even $10 will help to pay travel expenses for a crew member to get to set, or feed a member of cast for the day. Depending on the level of your investment we also have a number of perks to say thanks!!
OTHER WAYS YOU CAN HELP:
Help spread the word! Please share our links around with everyone you know, help us gather momentum, make some noise and help us make our projects a huge success.
If you work in a marketing department for a big company and think your bosses might be interested in a sponsorship logo in return for a fraction of their usual advertising budget, we'd be delighted to give you an Executive Producer credit, as well as the other perks mentioned on the perks page.
So please, take a couple minutes of your day and post this campaign via facebook, twitter, tumblr, email, whatever! Every action helps!
WHO WE ARE:
Panacea Productions and Traveller Films are producing the short film pilot SHACKLED, an atmospheric psychological thriller set against the peripheral world of a circus in 1950s Louisiana.
Producer/Director Nour Wazzi set up Panacea Productions in 2008 with the intention of making unique and dynamic films with strong commercial appeal. She cut her teeth producing and directing a number of short films and music videos, including the UK Film Council backed, award-winning short HABIBTI, based on a story by OSCAR nominated Ari Folman (WALTZ WITH BASHIR), which is currently screening at a number of acclaimed international film festivals. The feature is being developed into the heart-warming feature YALLA YALLA with Hiam Abbass (THE VISITOR), Jimmy Akingbola (REV) and Yasmine Al Massri (CARAMEL) attached. Nour has several projects in development including YOU KNOW ME, a mystery thriller with Matthew Goode (WATCHMEN, A SINGLE MAN) attached.
Producer/Writer Shirine Best has worked in the film industry for the last ten years, initially in development for Spice Factory before going on to work for legendary producer Norma Heyman. During her time in the industry she has developed and nurtured excellent relationships with writers, directors, agents and executives, and has credits on over 20 features. In 2008 Shirine set up the company Traveller Films alongside ex-colleague Lucy Shuttleworth, with the intention of making diverse and challenging films with strong commercial potential. Their latest feature THE BETRAYAL has award-winning director Tom Harper attached and is being sold by Protagonist Pictures.
Producer/Writer Ellie Emptage joined Spice Factory in 2007, working on the pre-production of THE SECRET OF MOONACRE. She went on to work for Yes/No Productions (STOMP, WILD OCEAN 3D). There she worked on the research for documentaries in development including THE LAST REEF, scheduled for completion in 2011. Ellie also works for a number of companies as a freelance script analyst, including production and distribution company StudioCanal. Her first feature screenplay is currently in development with Ocean Independent.
