Our Story

Rolling Stoned is a feature comedy inspired by true events. It's a road trip flick that feels nothing like reality.

It was a hot summer day in 1973, when Dan West embarked on the cross country road trip from Dallas to Seattle, that would inspire him to create Rolling Stoned. 35 years later, Dan's odyssey is inspiring a new generation of artists and filmmakers. Although the events have been changed, the characters fictionalized, and story moved to present day, the spirit of the story remains: a young man, discovering his creative strength. The film retains a 1970's sensibility and a sense that wonderfully crazy things can happen if you have the right attitude and the keys to a fast car.

The Impact

An entire artistic community in Norman, Oklahoma was mobilized behind this production. We hope to benefit the artists, musicians, businesses, and filmmakers who sacrificed to make the project happen by providing public interest/publicity in their craft. Getting it done also proves that independent productions can be every bit as good as studio films. It doesn't take deep pockets. It takes deep commitments. Contributing helps validate the work these artists have done for our film. Without finishing funds, we will continue to push forward to completion to the best of our ability.  We have already wrapped our principle photography 100% and we are in the editing stages of post production.  The wonderful people involved with this project have worked long hours days on end and produced miracles day after day for little or no pay, on a project that they believe in. Their personal lives suffered. Their finances suffered. Their sleep schedules suffered. They cried. The fought. They rejoiced! they wrapped principle photography on a feature length film on a shoe-string budget. Now that we have everything in place and we have begun the next phase of our production, we are reaching out to you and anyone you know, to please help us continue to work towards making this dream that everyone has put so much time and effort into a reality! What We Need & What You Get

We are hoping to raise $20,000 to be disbursed over many areas of production including but not limited to: audio and video editing, registration and submission fees, marketing and promotional material, payment for cast and crew, publishing costs, printing, and various other resources. Every dollar helps so don't be scared away by the big price tag. Even if we don't reach our goal, any money we do raise will still be put in to where it will do the most good for Rolling Stoned.
