Hello! We are Yossarian, a British-Argentine Alternative Rock band. We are ready to record our album but we need your help!
Starting a crowd-funding campaign to record your debut-album is a bit crazy. Waiting to be signed by a record label in the current state of the music industry is even crazier. Yossarian has been together for three years writing songs we are passionate about and that we believe would make a great album. That’s why we’ve taken to this windy path alone, and that’s why we need your help!
What do you need so much money for?
£6,000 ($10,000) is the minimum amount we need in order to track, produce, mix, master and release the album to a standard that we will proud of. This is how the money will be used:
Tracking: £2,200. This involves paying for the studio time to record all the tracks: drums, guitars, vocals, bass, horns, strings, synths, and a long etcetera.
Mixing: £2,600. If only it were a process of recording everything and jamming it together… Unfortunately it’s not. Piecing all the tracks together requires a professional producer with a keen ear for music and a passion for our stuff. We have to pay not only for his time but also for the studio time.
Mastering: £600. Once that tracks have been mixed individually. Another person comes to listen to them with a fresh mind to give it the final touches that make it sound amazing and like a proper album instead of individually recorded songs.
Artwork/Printing/Packaging: £1,200. This money will be used for the actual physical stuff: printing out the CDs, postcards, posters, framing the original pieces of artwork and dispatching everything.
What do I get in return?
Firstly, everyone contributing to our campaign will be thanked within the album artwork and on our website. On top of that your karma will receive an amazing boost for a minimum of three months.
Also, depending on how much you collaborate with, you can receive a pre-release copy of the album, a copy of the album in Spanish, a piece of original artwork, get us to record the album in the language of your choice and whole load of other amazing things. It’s pretty simple, check the perks on the sidebar on the right and choose how you'd best like to help us and what you'd like to receive in return!
Yes, if we hit our target we’ll record some of the songs in the album in Spanish (if we hit $15,000 we’ll do the entire album!).
But what do you sound like?
If you haven’t heard us yet, you can listen to our stuff in our official website Yossarian.com (also in Spanish!) or on Soundcloud. We’ve been compared to The National, The Who, Nick Cave, and at times U2, but have a listen and make up your own mind.
And what's the art like?
Argentinian artist Citlali Mercer is currently creating 10 limited edition pieces of original artwork in order to help us raise funds. We can’t give you any sneak peeks yet but you can check her artwork in her official website or simply basking on the awesomeness of the two images below.
The pieces created by Citlali will also be used to create prints, posters and postcards as detailed in the perks, and they will also be a part of the artwork of our album.
