Hello, and thankyou for checking out our project! The Bottle charger is the 21st century way to utilize plastic bottles or jericans,in the 20litre capacity to create green sustainable energy. It can be used indoors or outside and works with hot water heated either by a solar dish/cooker,charcoal,kerosene stove,gas/electric or open firewood source.

Unlike solar panels, the Bottle charger works day or night, rain or shine to bring you the electricity you need to keep charging anytime, anywhere!

We are on our final stages of our test prototype. Our final prototype device which will be used as the actual product will  be approximately 30% smaller, making it more compact and efficient. The Bottle charger was engineered out of pure passion in conserving the environment, while creating sustainable power for our gadgets. You can use the left over hot water in the kettle after you pour your cup of tea/coffee to charge your phone, instead of letting it get cold/warm and wasting energy. It's also ideal for campers who like the outdoor adventures, but still want to stay in touch with the world, via their cellphones.
We wanted to marry plastic bottles and mobile phones together for the common good of saving the already extremely polluted planet earth. Our goal was once compared to being like "Justin Bieber and  Kenny Rodger trying to do a song together."We thought it was a challenge but not impossible. The Bottle Charger uses the presence and absence of heat (hot water) for the expansion and contraction of a fluid (air) within the plastic bottle to exert pressure on the B.U.C.T. (Blackbeard Unidirectional Constant Turbine) Module to create electricity.

This technology can be associated with www.oceanlinx.com a company in Australia that harnesses the rising and falling (movement) of the ocean waves to generate clean electricity. We spent the last 3years engineering and testing. The Bottle Charger was designed in mind for both people in the developed and developing world. Our goal is that since most people who own a mobile phone, probably also have used several plastic bottled products that end up polluting the environment because they are not biodegradeable.

plastic bottles at a dump site

It would be considered being responsible and a sustainable consumer by utilizing the Bottle Charger, every once in a while even though we might be connected to the electrical grid or not. With over 6 billion mobile phones subscribers in the world, and over 200billion plastic bottles of water consumed globally every year. This numbers mean a huge toxic strain put on the environment at the end life/use of this products.

The Bottle Charger creates electricity as long as you have a cup of hot water (boiling point of water is 100 degrees celcius). This enables you to charge your microelectronics-based devices (mp3 players,GPS units, digital cameras, smartphones etc.) for 15-30minutes depending on certain conditions e.g. winter, summer, indoors or outdoors.

B.U.C.T MODULE

The B.U.C.T. Module comes with a lithium ion battery (1800mAh) that can be charged directly from a USB power outlet on your computer or laptop. This power can than be used to power your smartphone on the go when your on a train, bus or plane etc.An LED embedded in the B.U.C.T. module can act as a small reading light or flashlight. We will also include an extra LED light into the inside surface of the top flexible cover mouthpiece that sits on top of the opening of the plastic bottle. This setting will create a beautiful illumination pattern which than changes the Bottle Charger into an amazing home decoration.

Bottle Charger dissassembled

The Bottle Charger various components can be dismantled for easier transportation including, the long alluminium twin pipe embedded with heatsink fins all around. They can than be easily assembled together when needed. The Bottle Charger is a simple, yet versatile and highly portable power solution.Only hot water (100 degrees celcius and above)is required for the magic to happen. With mass production in China the Bottle charger price will drop more than 50% in future making it more affordable for individuals in the developing world to generate adequate power for their cellphones and even home lighting. It would even give them a chance to start a micro-business providing power to their communities for a small fee.One of the Bottle Charger's practical goals in engineering it was to provide an economic yet sustainable power source for people who lack regular access to electricity,as experienced in developing nations. In this parts of the world the spread of handheld electronic devices is rapidly outpacing the development of electrical grids. For example in Africa alone there are currently over 200million cellphone users that do not have access to electricity at home. Many walk over a mile to pay an average of $2-$5 a month to simply charge their cell phones, this is not acceptable in 2013.

kerosene lamp

It is also estimated that by 2015 this number will increase to 400million off-grid mobile phone users. On a global scale over 1.5 billion people in the world have no reliable access to mains electricity. These people rely instead on kerosene for lighting at night. The fume from biomass fuels also cause eye infections and cataracts.Burning kerosene also comes with a financial burden consuming 10-20%. Solar panels were a good bet in helping people in the developing world. However a number of conflicting factors combine to complicate matters, solar panels only work efficiently when the sun is shining. So the energy needs to be stored in a battery to produce the light when it is night time. The immediate problem is that you will need to replace the battery every few years down the road.Assuming you can get a new battery or if you have spare change to buy one.The capacity of the battery is often reduced to save money which limits the use time, after which there is no light. The Bottle Charger doesn't necessarily need a lithium ion battery especially for the case  of people in developing world. It's battery is hot water which stores/holds thermal energy.Having widespread power generation available on a personal scale will allow individuals to shift their energy to increasing productivity through better lighting (education/security) and communication (business/mobile banking) in their communities.

How it works

Bottle Charger assembled

You first need preferably an empty 20litre plastic bottle or jerican.Assemble/connect all the components together as required.Pour hot water first in the B.U.C.T. Module hot compartment which has a red cover, this is to reheat already warm expanded air coming from within the plastic bottle to increase its temperature further thus more pressure exerted on the turbine blades that are connected to a small generator. This arrangement acts as a turbocharger creating more power output (max 5volts).Additionally you can also fill cold water in the cold tank compartment with a blue cover on the B.U.C.T. Module. This helps cool further incoming air from the surrounding environment while the device is undergoing the contraction process.Pour hot water into the insulated thermal storage tank which is housed at the top of the device. The hot water (100+degrees celcius) than drops down the twin alluminium pipe with heat sinks after first passing through a heat delay timer valve. The hot water than moves to the sealed bottom of one side of the twin alluminium pipe with heatsinks. The heat is than dissipated to the surrounding air trapped within the plastic bottle interior causing the air to expand rapidly. This expanded air exerts pressure on the B.U.C.T. Module thus creating electricity. As the pressure of the expanded air starts to drop as it reaches an equilibrium, due to most of the pressurized air escaping to the surrounding environment outside of the plastic bottle.Part of the waste expanded air is redirected back to the twin alluminium pipe with heatsinks via the RWEAT (Redirecting Waste Expanded Air Tube) and pumps back the hot water all the way to the top insulated thermal storage tank (ITST). Within a minutes time contraction occurs due to the absence of heat (hot water 100 degrees celcius) within the twin alluminium pipe with heat sinks, exerting pressure on the B.U.C.T. Module as higher pressure fluid (air) from
outside tries to fill the vacuum within the plastic bottle, thus creating electricity. The cycle repeats itself (its like breathing in and out using our lungs) until the hot water loses heat as most of dissipated via the heatsinks.Temperature below 70 degrees celcius is inadequate for efficient functioning of the Bottle Charger. The device can also alternatively be operated without the use of hot water stored in the insulated thermal storage tank and twin alluminium with heatsinks. This method is a more affordable concept especially for people in the developing world with little resources,by connecting the B.U.C.T. Module directly to the flexible cover mouth piece and wrapping the plastic bottle/jerican in a black polythene/nylon bag and placing it directly in the sun. This is a physically manually operated technique, were the individual places the plastic bottle in the hot sun for 10-15 minutes the air expands as the colour black absorbs heat on the
polythene/nylon bag.It will than require the plastic bottle be moved to a cooler place e.g. under a tree for contraction to occur.Though it is manually operated,it only requires the B.U.C.T. Module and top flexible cover mouth piece without the insulated thermal storage tank, twin alluminium pipe with heatsinks and the RWEAT,which will only cost $40 (indiegogo funders only). With more R&D funding we hope to integrate a small solar dish so that you can heat water in the insulated thermal storage tank directly using sunlight continuosly during the daytime.

ADVANCE MULTIPURPOSE PLASTIC CRATE FOR BEVERAGE AND MINERAL WATER INDUSTRY.

We are currently working on a prototype, that will enable the use of 1 and 2 liter plastic bottles joined together. They will create the 20litre required capacity required,to generate electricity for mobile phones and other gadgets. We hope to change the plastic crate industry that is worth billions of dollars,in the beverage industry giants e.g. Cocacola/Pepsico and Mineral water brands. The way the mobile phone handset revolutionized the landline telephone system. By introducing cameras,LED flashlight, internet, bluetooth, mobile banking/payments and games that wasn't in the basic land line telephone. This multipurpose advance plastic crate aim,is to be more than a plastic crate for packaging and transportation uses. The new device/product will be a tablet holder at the same time being a coffee table in the living room charging your ipad tablet,a truly multipurpose plastic crate. The other business model behind the advance plastic crate is to help, large
beverage companies and mineral water brands be able to advertise their different products directly to consumers at home, while their electronic gadgets are charging. We believe hundreds of millions if not billions of people will want this new multipurpose advance crate device in their homes globally.Everybody needs a coffee table or some sort of small table at home. While creating awareness about plastic bottle pollution,we hope large beverage and electronic companies join forces to combat environmental issues. Cocacola could partner with Samsung, Apple inc with Pepsi co Sony inc etc. The multipurpose advance crate has a patent- pending,we are in the R&D phase improving the product with minor adjustments.

BEYOND PLASTIC BOTTLES AND CELL PHONES.

solar pv farm

In 2011 alone $280billion was spent on renewable energy sources globally alarge amount of that went to wind turbine and solar pv,CSP farms.
The Bottle Charger technology can also be used for large commercial grid-scale clean energy storage for solar and wind farms,in place of the plastic bottle will be replaced by a 40feet shipping cargo container.Solar panels create electricity from sunlight, that will be sent to an instant induction heater system. The induction heater stores heat inside Graphite blocks or molten salt containers for night time electricity generation. The same principle will be used for wind farms. For CSP plants (Solar tower and solar troughs),the mirror surface will concentrate sunlight on the graphite block/molten salt container heating them. The shipping cargo container will be  placed under solar/wind farms plants, helping conserve space and saving money on land purchase. Approximately 10-20KW will be created from a single 40feet shipping cargo containers. So to store 100MW of power will require around 10,000 40 feet shipping cargo containers submerged under the tens of thousands of solar panels/mirrors found on typical farms. There are over 2million shipping containers sitting idle around the world gathering dust. Wind turbines are supported on top of tall concrete hollow
towers, this could be used as an air chamber for the expansion and contraction process. Using graphite/molten salt is more effective and sustainable than using water, comparing most solar plants are located in desert areas.

Our patented, proprietary thermodynamic innovations are designed centered on mature industrial components and reliance on renewable energy sources and nontoxic working fluids. The technology will enable a site anywhere,zero-emission,clean energy storage solution at an affordable price. No intermittency issues the TFFCPEG (Thermal Fluid Expansion Contraction Propelled Energy Generator) energy storage technology solves the intermittency issues that limit solar pv and wind farms. The energy generation is 100 percent renewable and 100 percent clean with zero harmful emissions or toxic waste. Independent scalability of power and energy allows the technology to address applications across the electricity market value chain, from generation through transmission and
distribution at low capital cost, long lifetime, and high efficiency result in a disruptively low levelized cost of energy as compared to conventional storage solutions such as batteries etc.We are looking for investors and large energy companies to partner with throughout the world,to bring the technology
to market.
