“We” are initiating this Indiegogo campaign to raise $10,000 in start-up capital for our feature film project that has a working title of Kick Flick 2014.
“We” are Christopher and Heidi, two helplessly dedicated and, yes, hopelessly addicted soccer fans, and we’re going to make a funny and entertaining soccer film with integrity and quality. Kick Flick 2014 will warm the hearts and excite the minds of mainstream America while also answering the question that soccer enthusiasts outside of America have been asking for decades: Why do Americans hate soccer?

However, we aren’t going to kick soccer into the faces of soccer haters. We believe that the best way to defend soccer will be through comedy. As Mark Twain said, “Against the assault of laughter, nothing can stand.” We will also charm, entice, and probably convert even the most hardcore anti-soccer zealots…while celebrating the passion, drama and beauty that is soccer, especially on the international stage of the greatest show on earth…The World Cup.
Project Overview:
Film Comparisons: “Bend It Like Beckham” / “Meet The Parents” / “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”
Location: Seattle, WA and Los Angeles, CA
Producer(s): Heidi Dill / Christopher Dill

Logline: An American man who detests soccer as the sport of liberals and immigrants, inadvertently catches World Cup fever, and never recovers.

Hank Grawbowski.
Synopsis: Set in an upscale suburb of the soccer mad city of Seattle, the film tells the story of Hank Grabowski, a former U.S. Marine and current conservative Republican. His love for America has been infected by the extreme right-wing mentality that demonizes immigrants, Obama, and multiculturalism. He considers soccer a child’s game at best and un-American at worst.
Unfortunately for Hank, his daughter, Penelope, has fallen for a handsome Costa Rican soccer player named Aurelio.

Penelope & Aurelio
She invites him for dinner whereupon Hank insults Aurelio, telling him he “hates soccer”, driving him out of Penelope’s life.

¿Adivine quien vino a la comida? (Guess who came to dinner?)
Hank then pursues a candidate for his daughter’s hand and settles on Scott, a new hire at his firm. He invites Scott for a round of golf and afterwards Scott invites Hank for lunch at an English pub.

Hank can’t believe what he is seeing and hearing!
Unbeknownst to Hank, Scott is an avid US soccer fan, and it is the first game for the US at the 2010 World Cup…against England.

The pub is crammed with rowdy, intimidating, British ex pats that insult Hank and America, while reveling in their impending victory against “those damned Yanks”.

Gooooaaaalll!

Hank’s transformation begins.

Hank catches World Cup fever!
When the US evens the score, a dejected Hank experiences a soccer epiphany, transformed by the outpouring of pure patriotic passion by US fans.

Hank's elation is short lived when the U.S. loses in the second round, but he is now a lifelong US soccer fan, accepting of his daughter’s reunification with her Latin lover, and a more available husband to his wife, Carol.

Your Help Is Crucial!
The response to our script and vision has been extremely positive, especially from film industry professionals who have told us this project "could be a home run”, though we consider it a Golazo!
As independent filmmakers, we believe it is important and exciting to invite the soccer and sports communities into this process of helping us get our film to the big screen.
We have to and want to be resourceful, innovative and entrepreneurial in order to get the best actors, director, and executive producer(s) attached to our project. We think starting a crowdfunding campaign is a resourceful, innovative and entrepreneurial way to get our film completed for a 2014 theatrical release. We want to let Hollywood know that the USA is ready for an Amercan soccer themed movie with great appeal to people from every segment of society.
We need start-up capital to cover development expenses for first stage financing which can include legal fees, shooting schedule, retainers for a casting director and location scouts, along with other costs as itemized below.
We know how good this project will be and we need your help getting our Indiegogo campaign out to everyone who loves soccer, including sports and soccer loving film industry professionals and celebrities along with others in entertaiment and the media.
We are turning to Indiegogo to give passionate soccer and sports fans the opportunity to participate--at whatever level you can--in bringing forth a fully developed project that makes a statement about America’s soccer community to the world: “We do LOVE soccer!” By donating money through Indiegogo and spreading the word among your family and friends about this project, you really are giving us a necessary hand in moving this project forward.
It doesn't matter whether you donate $5 or the entire $10,000…a single seed can start a forest, and no amount of support is too small.
Please help Kick Flick 2014 reach the big screen!
