Woks and Lox

The very first Asian and Jewish Christmas

Our Story

Ever since the first lonely Jew ordered Chinese takeout on Christmas, there has been an undeniable bond between Jews and Asians. This Christmas Eve, we wipe away those lonely tears and celebrate our combined heritage.

In our first co-produced event, we (Veronica Chan and Jeff Orlick) are bringing you Woks and Lox, the very first Jewish and Asian Christmas.

We're taking the coals from our stockings and lighting 'em up!

On Christmas Eve, we're creating a warm, wondrous night celebrating our Asian and Jewish cultures at The Queens Kickshaw in Astoria, Queens. Chichi Wang, Serious Eats columnist and Chinese cook extraordinaire, will prepare dinner and noshes and TQK is creating some wild imbibing concoctions, both in a mash-up of Jewish and Asian cuisine.

But that's not all, of course not. We're doing Chinese wedding games, installing a Bar Mitzvah sign-in board, and instead of a band, we're hiring ladies to play mah jongg - Seriously! We're twisting Asian and Jewish party games to give away lots of prizes from our sponsors including:

Claim your spot to Dinner ($59), and you'll be in on Chichi Wang's Jewish-Asian dinner mash-up from 5-7pm, get 2 free drink tickets for the night, and also enjoy the Nosh Party from 7-9pm.

Claim your spot at the Nosh Party ($28), and you'll be in for the Nosh Party from 7-9pm and receive 1 free drink ticket for the night. At the Nosh Party, we'll be doing the giveaways, a Chinese auction, and a bunch of Jewish/Asian activities. It might just be wildness.
