WILDFIRES: What's it about?

WILDFIRES is a short film set in the not too distant future. The Earth has become an overpopulated and polluted wasteland. As it heads towards destruction, mankind is ravaged by a devastating plague that is spreading like wildfire, killing 90% of the population. 

When a cure for the disease is discovered, an underground group of radical intellectuals and militant environmentalists decide that putting out the wildfire isn't the way to save humanity. They believe that just like a wildfire in any ecosystem, the disease is the Earth's way of healing itself.

BEN, one of the lucky few who has the genetic immunity to the disease, is recruited to travel back in time to eliminate the scientist before he can develop the cure. When Ben comes face to face with the man he must kill, he has to decide what is more important: the lives of the billions of people he'll be condemning to death, or the future of Earth.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

We're setting out to make an ambitious, thought provoking, and entertaining film where the line between right and wrong is anything but clear. We believe this is the type of sci-fi film that fans want to see. 

Sci-fi, done well, is an expensive genre with certain hard costs. Our production design needs to be detailed in order to sell the reality of the future. We need unique sets, props, wardrobe, and special effects in order to manufacture a world that viewers will believe. We also have a great old building near downtown Los Angeles where we'll be shooting 90% of the film, and we'll need to pay for a location fee and permits.

Finally, while WILDFIRES is a product of passion for the fimmakers, we want to pay our highly skilled and professional cast and crew a modest rate for the hard work they'll be putting in on the film (and be able to feed everyone decently!).

WHAT YOU CAN DO

The number one thing you can do to help WILDFIRES is to contribute financially. ANY size contribution will make a difference. However, if you can't afford to right now, there are still plenty of other ways to help. For starters, you can show your support by commenting on our page. This helps boost the campaign's visibility. Jon has been writing and directing in Los Angeles since 2005. His directing credits include the feature film The Anniversary at Shallow Creek, and he has directed numerous short films, web series, and music videos. Chad is a talented cinematographer who has been creating unique and stunning films since he first picked up a camera in gradeschool. His work includes the feature film House of Bad, numerous web series and popular viral internet videos, short films, and commericals for a variety of clients, incuding his recent commercial for the Xbox 360.  RD CALL as DALTON

RD's impressive career spans over four decades, winning him wide acclaim for his ability to play all types of characters. He's been featured in countless television series and feature films, with notable roles in Babel, Last Man Standing, and Waterwold to name a few.  DAMIAN MAFFEI as BEN

Damian has been steadily increasing his profile and gaining recognition as a talented actor, on both the screen and the stage. Fans of Horror and Sci-Fi will know him from features like Closed for the Season and the upcoming, much anticipated feature adaptation of Joe R. Lansdale's Christmas with the Dead. DEAN HAGLUND as DR. GODWIN

A talented actor, comedian, and artist, Dean is probably best known to sci-fi fans for his nine seasons playing Langly, one of the computer geeks known as “The Lone Gunmen” from the hit FOX TV series The X-Files. Dean has appeared in a string of films and TV series, and most recently Executive Produced and starred in the documentary "The Truth is Out There." Check out Dean's: IMDB, Website
