Hello, Hola, et Bonjour!

My name is Anna Margarita Albelo and I am Cuban-American Filmmaker in Los Angeles. Thank you for giving me a moment to tell you about my newest feature film, Who's Afraid of Vagina Wolf?, a dark comedy about having a career and finding love when you're a post-modern woman!

What's it about?

'Who's Afraid of Vagina Wolf?' is the story of a Cuban-American lesbian who has been hiding from relationships in her film career. Often auto-biographical, the film recounts the tale of, ANNA and her catalyzing 40th birthday: the day she sets about getting the girl AND making the film that will change her life!  
Inspired by the incredible classic, 'Who's Afraid of Virgina Woolf?' starring Elizabeth Taylor and Richard Burton, Anna finds herself lost and disheartened but love, or shall I say, the promise of love, inspires her to embark on creating an all-female version of the film.

Our amazing cast includes GUINEVERE TURNER channeling Elizabeth Taylor's MARTHA, Tammy Lynn Michaels takes on Sandy Dennis' HONEY, and Whitney Mixter, Bridget McManus, and Joel Michaely round out the cast! 

Produced by Steakhaus Productions our team includes screenwriter, Michael Urban (SAVED!) and cinematographer, Alison Kelly. Betweent the cast and crew, we have made over 20 award-winning films in the past 10 years.

Synopsis

The day after her fortieth birthday, Anna comes to the conclusion that its time for the madness to stop. She lives in her friends back yard tool shed; her career as a filmmaker isnt paying her bills and worst of all its been ten years since shes had a girlfriend. A hardscrabble life that seemed charming and adventurous in her twenties seems desperate and dire in middle age. She was once an adventurous jet setter & queen of night. Most move on from such a lifestyle before they hit 40, but not Anna. Thats why something has to changeAnd soon.

The expression, "Glass Ceiling" is a paradox. It's not a concrete ceiling or a steel ceiling or a marble one even. It's just glass. 

By using my life and becoming the protagonist, I am giving a voice to a person who is a woman, a Latina, a lesbian, out there in the world trying to give meaning and importance to her life and desires. 
But don't forget this is also a comedy about life, love and friendship.  Humor makes our lives worth while and let's everyone share a universal experience though laughter.
