Who I am and what this project is about.
My name is Jeffrey Collins. I am an artist and filmmaker who has been making a legendary documentary for over two years now. I have a total of 17 people I have interviewed so far. With some of them being interviewed a number of times. I have over 4 hours of footage alone with Ronnie Landfield, and it was all awesome. I've been on a journey to make the great art documentary of the era, I'm more than half way done with the filming. Then it's onto the editing process, but until then, I still need to finish all the interviews.
The final film length I am looking to have is right about 2 hours. I want the people interviewed here to really have a chance to tell YOU about themselves. I am even considering a 3 hour version. Since I have so many people involved, I don't want to make anything seem squeezed. I was originally told this film should be 90 minutes, but IMO I really don't think that is enough.
Artists, Critics, Curators, Writers who have been interviewed so far include.

With many more interviews to go. I have a long list still to come, including...
Joseph Marioni, David Anfam, Stephen Bennett, Ross Bleckner, Kevin Finklea, Robert Sagerman, Larry Poons, Richard Timperio, John Cheim, Pat Steir, Hrag Vartanian, Dee Solin, Barry Schwabsky, Loren Munk, Sandi Slone, Vincent Como, Kris Scheifele, Noah Landfield, Robert C. Morgan, Danielle Frankenthal, and Don Voisine.
Lots of travelling and meeting people to go, and I really NEED YOUR HELP.
I am asking for $2000, and obviously if I am able to get more, that would mean a new camera to work with which would allow for higher quality moving video. Right now my main camera doesn't do action too well, as it's a HDSLR Canon 5dMK2. It's amazing for the sit down interviews, but for action I really do need a better camera than the Samsung I have been using, especially if this film is going to be in theaters.
Mostly I am asking for travelling funds for this trip. I have much travelling yet to do and I'm hoping to get it all done in April and May. With your help, I can get this accomplished and you'll know that many hours of amazing artists, writers, and curators stories are being documented.
What I am offering in return are a number of things. DVD's of the finished film, Digital Downloads, signed books, and REAL ARTWORK by a number of the participants.
I have been on 7 filming trips so far, New York City...Franconia, New Hampshire...Somerset, California...Tamaqua, Pennsylvania. These trips have been so important to me, to meet and learn from all these amazing people has been such an experience, I want you to be able to share this experience with me. With this film, I want you to feel like you are there with me. The sites, the sounds, the smells, the brilliance.
This film will give generations to come, a look into the art world of today, showing others that modern art is very much alive and incredibly respected. I want this film to have 10X the impact that PAINTERS PAINTING has had on the generations that came after that film was made.
If you aren't able to donate, one major way you can help me, is by getting the word out for the film and this campaign. This is such an amazing opportunity to become part of something huge. You don't have to be a big donor for that to happen. Just being a mouthpiece for the film is a huge way to be a part.
