[sic] (Sheffield Independent Creatives) is an independent production umbrella based in Sheffield. Entirely self-financed and extremely independent, our past endeavours have included self-publishing the book 'Split/Single' and producing the short film 'Same River Twice'.
'Same River Twice' was a short film made on a budget of £50. The film took 7 months to make and since being completed in January 2012, we have started to screen the film privately and have entered it into several film festivals.
The ideology of [sic] is to grow as a collective of artists and start to develop future projects more frequently and with ever-growing vision and ambition.
'When I Grew Up' is a bittersweet, comedic film poem about the professions that children dream of being and the realities of trying to realise these as an adult.
Our aim is to deliver a film that will make you feel like a child but in the body of an adult. With enough support, we wish to deliver a magical film both in content and original filmmaking, full of wonder enough to return you to childhood feelings of naive hope but through the eyes of a rational, experienced adult.
If [sic] is to continue to grow, we need to work on larger budgets than we ourselves can provide and as such, we desperately need your help to achieve bigger things.
What We Need & What You Get
Our funding campaign is to ensure that we can deliver the best film possible and every single penny contributed will be shown on screen. £500 would still be an extremely tight budget for us and we are asking for a modest amount of help. We really need to meet, or if possible, exceed this target!
The projects of [sic] are labours of love and the money you give will assuredly not be to pay anyone's wages or to buy any equipment.
Funding instead, will all go on a number of key elements: costumes, bespoke props, set design and importantly, the hiring of key shooting locations.
The book, 'Split/Single' was a sell-out success and returned the investments with a little to spare. 'Same River Twice' was funded on a 10-way £5 investment and again, little was lost by those involved, and it's fair to say that the experience was worth much more to all that contributed. Through methods such as auctioning off costumes and props via eBay after the shoot, we hope to return some of your money.
AND YET, with that in mind, we also offer some exclusive perks for anyone that invests - and so if we can't - then we're offering a unique experience that only our indiegogo investors will secure.
