Weekend Adventures is an original screenplay written by Steven R Jurich. This Short Film is about John, who turns to a Comic Book Adventure to face the mundane. Fighting for the girl of his dreams, can he conquer his fears to obtain his heroic happy ending?
Weekend Adventures is Officespace combined with The Dark Knight, and get this... It's a Romantic Comedy!
Weekend Adventures has something for everyone. We all have a hobby that we "nerd out" about. There is something that we like to do, that gets us excited, and takes up a lot of our time. In this case, it's graphic novels and comic books, but for you it could be anything! From kitting to sky diving!
There is already a feature length version of Weekend Adventures in the works. We want to make an awesome short first, though, and take it to every major film festival out there -- LA Shorts and Sundance, just to name a few.
Weekend Adventures is about an guy, John, who works in an office. His work is boring and he's kind of tired of it, but it pays the bills. What he really loves to do is read graphic novels and comic books.
John constantly turns down opportunities to go to parties and hang out with people around the office, because it's not really his thing. Instead he likes to read, and has a CRAZY imagination.
After a long week of work, the book he's been waiting for is finally delivered to his house, immediately he begins to read and spends his whole friday night reading this new, fascinating story.
The next morning he's woken up by the sound a moving truck, and sees who may be the girl of his dreams, Stacy.
Constantly Slipping off into his imagination, his real life begins to parallel the Graphic Novel he's reading. He eventually finds out that Stacy, like himself, is a Graphic Novel fanatic -- she's actually reading the same novel as him! She also drifts off into her imagination.
They Continue their adventure together.
Well, in order to make this film right, we need a budget. We currently have calculated out our budget to be $15,275. Here's a simple breakdown:
We are going to be using the Sony FS700. This camera will give us the ability to shoot at 240 FPS, super slow motion, in full 1080p HD. Combined with a set of Zeiss Prime Lenses, we will have a nice crisp, detailed image.
Lighting and Grip
You've heard, "Lights, Camera... Action!" Well, lighting is a crucial part to quality film-making.
We've lined up quite the cast and they are excited and ready to go. We're working directly with SAG in order to make sure everyone is taken care of.
Sound is often what separates Amateur films from Professional films. We're making sure we have top notch sound design. Tim Pryor is that man.
We need props, sets, and just about everything else. We want the sets to be beautifully detailed, and for that you need a budget.
People gotta eat! Plain and Simple.
