VloggerFair is Happening - but We Need Your Help!
Hello World! I'm Chris Pirillo.
Chances are, if you're looking at this page, then you either subscribe to one of my various social media channels or have known of me for quite some time. I might have helped you over the years or saved you time and money with any one of my suggestions, reviews, or tips. Or, maybe I've just given you hours of entertainment in any given week?
Either way, you might note that I'm producing the first "VloggerFair" event in Seattle, WA this June 8th & 9th. It's not a conference, but a collaborative atmosphere aimed to foster communication and community in the same physical space. This is completely different from other established YouTube events in many ways - more of a gathering than anything.
Not everybody who wants to be there can be there in person, unfortunately (but if you can be with us in person, you can always register to attend the event directly). You might want to support the endeavor, but have no official way of doing it other than patting me on the virtual back and saying "good luck with that." I produced Gnomedex for ten years before this, and I know how to produce an event that people love.
If You Can't Come to VloggerFair (in Person), You Can Still Help!
I really need - rather, our team really needs - your help, because we're hoping to do more than just this single VloggerFair. If you can't make it to the event (but would like to, if only in spirit), here's a chance for you to help us.
We Can Do a Live Video Stream of VloggerFair!
Many of you would-be supporters have asked if we'd be producing a live stream for VloggerFair, but that would add costs to production (which we don't have covered at this time).
I have found a team of producers who can help us stream VloggerFair activities to the world, but it might not happen unless we hit (or exceed) our goal. If we reach our funding goal, we can live stream the Q&A sessions with many of our featured vloggers - plus, have higher-quality videos to be published after the event takes place.
If we do not reach our goal, we cannot run a live stream - but I'm offering benefits for you at every level (independent of a live stream happening if we don't reach our goal). There will be so much video produced at VloggerFair - but only one way to make sure that VloggerFair succeeds this time and happens again.
All funding generated for this campiagn will go directly to supporting VloggerFair, regardless. REMEMBER: we also have to cover PayPal and IndieGoGo fees, so every last bit of your support will be a great help!
The First Year is ALWAYS The Most Difficult to Explain!
Because this is the first year (and possibly final year) for VloggerFair, it has been a tremendous challenge to convince certain people of the value we're bringing together - over 20,000,000 social impressions will be walking about the floor (calculated from engagement counts from our featured vloggers).
I'm confident that we're building a fantastic experience for those who are able to attend, and I want to extend the same fantastic experience (as much as I possibly can) to those who are only able to watch what happens virtually.
Even trying to get the word out in Seattle (alone) and the Pacific Northwest has been a challenge for our very small team.
It's Not Easy to Do This Without You
I only started vlogging because my wife suggested that you might appreciate it - and you have appreciated it for over a year now (on top of any other content I might have produced before or alongside).
When you produce an event - an experience - it can be very costly. We have done our best to keep our costs as low as possible (not just for our team, but for the VloggerFair attendees as well).
I'm just hoping to break even with this one, folks - and I need your help to do it.
Just about all of my content has been given to you without costs attached - so let's see if offering virtual values to your contribution will be enough to get you to help VloggerFair from afar.
Then, maybe, we'll be able to do another VloggerFair - here, there, or possibly wherever.
Bonus / Interim Goal Rewards for All Backers
Thanks for reading this far. Apparently, I started to type a paragraph for this section a few days ago and then spaced it, closed the browser, and many of you emailed to let me know that I had to come back and complete my thoughts. :) I do love y'all - because that didn't stop some from contributing!
So, when we hit $5,000, I decided to offer everyone who backs this endeavor all of my GnomeTomes (40+ eBooks that I've written over the years, and if you get something interesting out of it... well, it's better than nothing).
If we hit $10,000, I will offer all contributors access to my private Gnomies Facebook group - which has been a great place to get advice, and has generally been for those who appreciate my knowledge most. Traditionally, this has been a $99/year subscription, but am thinking of opening Gnomies up to be donation-based, instead (with annual contribution drives). That'll start with your help!
Other Ways You Can Help?
I have never done a campaign like this before.
Even if you don't have $5 to spare, doing these things will help:
- Tell your friends, co-workers, and/or community about VloggerFair
- Continue to Comment, Like, and Share our content with others
Thanks, my friends...
