VIVAT VERITAS: Match by Match Releases a VIDEO EP

Uhmmm, who are you again?

Hi, we're Match by Match, an Ann Arbor-based Power Folk band. In the short time we've been playing around Michigan, we've played countless shows, released our first full-length record American Crowbar, seen that record turned into a staged musical by the New Theatre Project, and gotten praise and recognition from publications like The Current, The Ann Arbor Observer, Encore Michigan, and The Onion A.V. Club. We've shared the stage with greats like Chris Bathgate, Gun Lake, Archie Powell and the Exports, The Ragbirds, Matt Jones, and the Ultrasounds.

We've developed a whole new sound and a slew of new songs and we're excited to start work on our follow up to American Crowbar, but instead of going the normal route of putting out a CD, we wanted to try something a bit different: we want to record a new four song EP to be released digitially, with each song accompanied by an original music video. The four videos will together tell the story of the record, a story we're calling "VIVAT VERITAS."

That all sounds pretty cool. What can I do to help? 

Thanks for asking! Basically, we are trying to raise funds for the project. In the digital age, it can be tricky for a band to find ways to fund their releases. We've found that our fans can be very generous, so we like to take the direct approach.

Our first album, American Crowbar, was entirely funded by fans and friends through another notable crowdfunding website (here's a hint: rhymes with "Flickstarter") and we thought we'd once again ask you lovely, lovely people for your help.

Indiegogo allows for anyone worldwide to contribute to a project using either PayPal or a credit card! But it's not just about throwing us a few sheckles. You might notice along the side of the page the different contribution levels, and that each has "perks" that come with it. These are our gifts to you guys, a modest thank you for all the help and support we've gotten over the years.  

OK, I'm into it. But where exactly is this money going?

We've set a pretty modest goal for the project: $2000. We estitmate this will cover the bulk of the costs just for RECORDING, which we plan to do with local producing legend Jim Roll in Backseat Productions Studios (Chris Bathgate, Frontier Ruckus, Hoots and Hellmouth, Breathe Owl Breathe, Nervous But Excited) where we recorded our first record. 

Anything above and beyond that initial goal will be going toward the costs of video production, including:

• CD and DVD production
• directors' and editors' fees
• album artwork fees
• equipment and studio space rental
• hiring actors
• postage costs for mailing rewards
• bowls of single colored M&Ms
• llama rentals

Every cent you contribute to this campaign will go toward production costs. We love making music and collaborating with like-minded artists to create something special. This isn't about making money, it's about the project; all the proceeds we make from this campaign will go to making our Video EP bigger and better!

I'd love to help out, but I'm poor! I gave all my money to other Kickstarters/crowdfunding projects!
