VFX Learning Open Source Project Status:

So far we have delivered over 50 hours of video training with another 70 hours to be delivered by June 8th. We are getting about 20,000 hits per month on our video gallery, and our Vimeo statistics indicate that our class recordings have been viewed over 40,000 times!!!

We are very happy that everyone is enjoying our material and we cant wait to see some great effects being created by our students.

We have 9 days left in our current IndieGoGo campaign and we need your support, if you are enjoying the courses please show your support by pledging a donation here: http://igg.me/at/vfxlearning/x/1896744

You can also donate directly on our website.

Creating this material has proven to be a full time job and quite expensive to produce and maintain, that’s why we need all the support we can get.

We would also like to ask you to share this information with anyone you think may be interested, we want everyone to enjoy the courses. Remember that all the videos live in our website www.vfxlearning.com

Thanks

Hello everyone,

I wanted to let you know about a new campaign we have started: http://igg.me/at/vfxcasestudy1/x/1896744

In this new series called VFX Learning Case Studies we will explore some of the most iconic effects and simulations of popular blockbuster films, we will analyse the techniques needed to create such elements and combine all the tools and knowledge at our disposal using Maya, RealFlow and PulldownIt to achieve them.

As part of the VFX Learning Open Source Project we will run this sessions in a similar fashion. Classes will be held live in our virtual classroom, this sessions will be recorded and released week after week as Open Source videos for the whole world to enjoy.

Case Studies will run for 6 hours divided into 4 weekly sessions of 90 minutes each. We will offer this sessions both in English and Spanish. Our plan is to release a new Case Study every month so lots and lots of effects will be covered.

In order to for us to be able to run this new training we need to reach a minimum campaign goal, we have created a new IndieGoGo campaign just of this, in the event of not being able to reach the minimum goal this sessions wont be released and all funds will be returned to the contributors.

We have created 2 different levels of donations to keep things simple. The first level allows you to attend to all 4 live classes, a great way to interact with the instructor, ask questions and help making a great class recording.

The second donation level not only gives you access to the live classes but also allows you to download the assignment scene files to better follow the training, and also gives you access to our online student community which is a great benefit for those interested in getting additional feedback in between sessions, share your results with other students and push your learning experience even further.

Sadly all the donations stopped the moment we published the first class recordings for week 1, I just want to remind you that we have only reached 12% of the campaign goal and I’m covering all the expenses of the Open Source Project myself.

I’m hoping that this community will continue to support our effort now more than ever, as you can see I’m keeping my promise and in three weeks we have uploaded 30 hours of video recordings, with 10 more coming each week. I will continue to do so until the end of the courses. I have also made the content available to everyone in the world.

But I really need your support on this, the campaign still continues, you can pledge your donations at any time. Also you can upgrade your previous donations to a higher level if you want to access our student community, our class content on our FTP or want a Learning Edition License or RealFlow.

To upgrade your previous donations please donate the remaining difference by selecting the No Perk option, then please email me your receipt from IndieGoGo so I can update your details.

Please also help us spread the word so more people watch the videos and contributes to our cause.

The link to the donations page is:http://igg.me/at/vfxlearning/x/1896744

Thank you very much as always.
