So here is the scoop...
In 2005 I returned home from my deployment to Iraq. Little did I know, the hardest role of all was about to begin: discovering who I was and what I wanted to do with my life. I couldn't find work utilizing the skills taught to me as an infantry soldier. Even if I could have, I wanted more from my life.
So, I decided to go to school. I completed my associates degree at a local community college and then sought further education. In 2010, I began my B.S program at Portland State University. Through hard work and dedication, I completed all my college requirements and earned my B.S. in Social Science.
Veteran's Affairs (VA) assisted with most of the financial costs. However, this last term I ran out of benefits, and I do not have enough in savings to pay the remainder of my tuition bill. My diploma will be withheld until my account is paid in full. This important piece of paper is what stands between myself and being able to use my degree to embark on a career using my education.
That is why I am here, asking for your help and assistance.
What We Need & What You Get
The goal of this project is simple: pay off the tuition bill incurred during my last term.
My bill totals $1,738, and includes the tuition and books needed for that term. All of the money raised from this campaign will go to that.
If I receive more than the requested amount, I will take 50% of the proceeds and donate them to a charity focused on tuition and education assistance for veterans.
I have a local photography business in Portland, Oregon. The photos mentioned in my perks will come from the artwork I have created. All photos and Gicleé's are physical copies not digital.
This project is not about making money and bying toys. This project is designed to help me pay of the last of college tuition and receive my Degree so that I can move on and find a career. I am not trying to get a free ride, I am trying to take care of this last little bit so I can become a useful member of society.
Your contribution will help me to graduate and move on with my life.
Other Ways You Can Help
I understand that many of us are going through hard times, and you may not be able to contribute even though you may want to. Any positive thoughts or encouragement will help me get through this difficult time.
Word of mouth is an incredible phenomenon. Please pass the word of my campaign along!
