Our Story
Who are we? We are Blue Orchid Handbags - a line of handbags and accessories that are fun, flirty and cater to women of all ages. What do we do? We create handbags and accessories from animal friendly fibers and incorporate a little post consumer recycled plastics while we're at it. Where do we create these bags? In beautiful Cleveland Ohio. Why? Because we believe you don't have to harm the environment or the animals to look trendy, be fashionable and dare we say - a little sexy. How do we do this? We design bags that incorporate clean lines, beautiful fabrics and stunning prints.
We have been doing this for almost 4 years now and you can find our bags in over 15 stores. The feedback we get at art shows is always positive and we try to make a little bit of a difference by donating a portion of our profits to the ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals).
This IndieGoGo project is the next Blue Orchid collection - a line of bags incorporating vegan leather, from concept and design, including prototypes and ultimately the final pieces. All created in our studio. Ok so what is vegan leather? It's fabric designed to look like leather made from a variety of fibers including kelp, cork oak trees and plastics.

The Impact
Today it's all about helping small businesses grow. You can make a difference in the world by helping us create bags that are animal friendly, beautiful and affordable. Help us offer women an alternative to leather, a bag that withstands the elements that doesn't have the high cost associated with leather. A bag that is made right in here in the United States! We will continue to offer our signature cotton bags however more options are good right!
What We Need & What You Get
We need funds to purchase an industrial machine one that will sew through the thick layers of fabric. Let's face it we are still a young company and we need your help. Help from people who care about protecting our animal friends. Every penny raised will go towards the purchase of an industrial machine and the material itself. What happens if we do not meet our goal? We will take the funds we have collected and move forward with our goal. We are an ambitious group and will continue to look for ways to bring this collection to life.
Remember there are perks! From signed model photographs to t-shirts to your very own vegan bag made specifically for you.
