Uptown Market Brewery

Uptown Market is now expanding to become a Brewery! Help us reach our goal by supporting our products before we open!

Short Summary

Uptown Market, a specialty beer store just outside of SW Portland in Beaverton, is pleased to announce as an extension of our existing business we will be launching the first brewery in Beaverton projected for completion July 2013! The shop currently includes an extensive list of beer and wine as well as brewing supplies, espresso, friendly staff, a full schedule of promotions, tastings, competitions and events, and soon will feature Uptown Market’s own finely crafted brews.

It gets even better! In addition to supporting the brewery and receiving some great incentives, during the first year of operation we will donate 50% of the brewery profits to charity if we meet our goal! The organizations we will benefit are Children’s Cancer Association (CCA), Dress For Success, Girl Scouts of Oregon & SW Washington, Oregon Humane Society and I Have a Dream Foundation. Every dollar pledged will be a "vote" for the charity you would like to benefit. At the end of the campaign the percentage of votes each organization received will be the percentage of the profit share they will receive over the first year! The organization that gets the most votes will also receive a $500 check at the end of the campaign! We will follow up to pledges in an email with a link to the survey to cast your support.

UPDATED VOTING RESULTS 4/25:

Check out our incentives on the list to the right, we think there is something in there for everyone to participate. We know that not everyone can help us monetarily, but there are many other ways you can help our cause. Share this on facebook and twitter. Tell your friends about it and have them share it as well. And of course if you have any questions stop by the shop and we'd be happy to talk your ear off. We thank you in advance for your continued support!

What We Need & What You Get:

We need to raise $24,500 in order to make the necessary modifications to our building and purchase the brewing system. That number will cover about half of the total cost to start up the Brewery, but we will make it work. Obviously going over that goal will help us launch all that much faster! We have identified the system, which is from Two Kilts Brewing Co. They will have their system available in 12-16 weeks when they upgrade to their new system. We have put a down payment on the system to hold it for our store!

We will be getting the following equipment from Two Kilts:

A Mash Tun:

7 Barrel Kettle:

Two 8 Barrel Fermenters:

The fermenters are all jacketed so there is no need for a brite tank! Woohoo!

One 3 barrel fermenter:

These funds will go towards purchasing the necessary equipment that the 7 barrel system is made of that we are not getting from Two Kilts Brewing Co. We will have to source a good amount of equipment ourselves that Two Kilts Brewing Co. is keeping for their new system: hot liquor tank (Commercial Hot Water Tank), heat exchanger, glycol system for the jacketed fermenters and washdown accessories.  Along with those larger items, all the smaller items such as solenoids and controls for the glycol cooling system, we are going to need a mill for the grain, keg washing and filling stations and a carbonation station. Some pictures below are of the these ancillary items we will have to purchase in addition to the brewery house.

We will need to modify our existing building to house the brewery. Below is the updated layout for the brewery.

Thank you for your support, and Cheers!

(Note: New footage for the video was taken. Also extremely important to note: not filmed, the exceptionally good looking and charismatic: Chris Shepard. Pop Quiz: did you spot the Herb Apon sighting?)
