Unfinished Business is a ghostly adventure film that takes place in Roswell, New Mexico, a paranormal center of activity that has seen its share of chupacabras, crashed UFOs, and ghostly spirits ranging about the high plains. 

This film-noir flavored action film will be shot in southeastern New Mexico in Roswell and Artesia in the United States. It is going to include incredible items from ETSY artists and collectors, fascinating STEAMPUNK GHOST HUNTING GEAR, sensual GOTH elements, and even more! Some of the locations we are looking at are Bottomless Lakes State Park, Eastern New Mexico State University at Roswell, and the Artesia Studio (shown below).

We already have a number of wonderfully talented people coming on board to bring the characters to life through acting, and give it the perfect look through their talents as crew. We'll add Cast and Crew below as they commit to the project and get us their biographical details.

Don't forget that once we meet our goal you can keep pledging! Every penny that is pledged will be up on that screen and the more pennies we get the cooler that reflected image is gonna be! The funds are just a part of the whole budget and will be used to pay cast and crew, buy props, wardrobe, pay fees, bring in incredible Special FX, feed everyone, and everything else associated with making sure the film is completed.  This campaign is going to end with enough to get us through pre-production and put a nice dent in the production phase.  We'll start another campaign soon for the production phase.

Agent Nick Casey of the International Bureau of Investigation (IBI) is working with his partner Agent Richie Faraday to bring down the villainous Madeline Taylor. Before they can find out what new game the Drug Queen is up to she has Agent Casey killed and Agent Faraday put out of commission. You’d think that would be the end of their involvement in the case, but it’s only the beginning.

When the case is handed over to Agent Maggie Rhodes she gets a new partner that no one was expecting: the ghost of Agent Casey! The two agents work with paranormal scientist Dr. Josh Byrnes and his Steampunk-styled ghost hunting equipment to see if they can figure out why they have been thrown together. The unusual situation does not slow down their efforts to stop Madeline, especially when they discover that she is moving into the deadly world of arms dealing and terrorism.

While fighting villains both living and dead, Maggie and Nick have to wonder whether his Unfinished Business is to stop the woman who had him killed or to be with the woman he was meant to love.

Role of TIFFANY

Sarah Mitchell (Hellums) works hard to help others in her day-to-day activities with the Anti-Drug & Crime Coalition in Artesia, NM.  She's also multi-talented in that she has already appeared in the Lead Role of the film "Crystal Clear".
 
We're thrilled to have Sarah join us to play the role of TIFFANY, far-seeing barista in a local coffee house.  Tiffany can see things about people that not everyone else can see -- and she has no qualms about sharing that info, whether you want to hear it or not

Role of JOHNNY O'ROURKE

Zod Grey Buckley was born in Denver, but grew up in New Mexico, where his family has lived for over four generations. He has been studying literature and creative writing for the past few years in college, and enjoys literature as a hobby. Zod has had some experience with acting, including small plays and improv.

We're very excited that Zod has joined us to portray the character JOHNNY O'ROURKE, wise-cracking assassin who finds it hard to stop killing even after he's dead.

Role of ALEX CAMERON

Mike Smith began acting in the 1960s and has appeared in college and civic theater productions in Texas, Colorado, and New Mexico. He more recently began his work in films and has appeared in numerous films including: Coyote County Loser, Love Ranch, Year One, and The Rambler. In addition he has appeared in commercials both local and international and the TV show Breaking Bad.

Mike is a wonderful addition to our cast and he will breathe warmth and life into the character of ALEX CAMERON, Regional Director of the International Bureau of Investigation and a man anxious to end the reign of Madeline Taylor.

Kenny Holdeman has most recently had a life centered around running a truck-driving school, but his deep, gravelly voice has long been popular at pleasing crowds as a singer.  He has done Voice Over work and most recently used that ability in the short film The Hunt.  Now, Kenny is ready to branch into acting as he begins with his first onscreen role in Unfinished Business.

Kenny has a friendly yet don't-push-me demeanor that he will bring to the character of IKE, the bartender at the watering hole where some of our heroes hang out when working on new plans to bring down the baddies.

Role of HORATIO

Curtis Folts has been playing on the live stage since 1989, he has also been caught by the occasional stray film as it travelled through Roswell, New Mexico, his home town. Curtis enjoys exploring new avenues of creativity, via a variety of art forms, an addictive reading habit, editing, and of course acting. When not acting, or astrally projecting himself onto Facebook, Curtis can be found in his living room giving belly rubs to one of their four dogs or chin scritches to their cat.

We know that you'll enjoy Curtis as the character of HORATIO, the upright British butler to the villainous Madeline Taylor. Horatio has no problem cleaning up after murder and he never even messes up his pristine white gloves.

Role of MOLLY

Debbie Marie Van Der Veen was born in California and moved to New Mexico in the '90s.  Debbie has worked as a weather reporter for a local TV station, has appeared in local theater productions, and had her acting debut in the film Crystal Clear.  Currently, Debbie's involved in helping plan city-wide events and welcoming new businesses and residents to the town of Artesia, New Mexico.
 
We're so happy to have Debbie join us to play the character of MOLLY, the sweet but disheartened girlfriend of International Bureau of Investigation Agent Rich Faraday. She does her best to find out what's really going on with him.

Role of DR. JOSHUA BYRNES

Geoffrey Notkin hosts the award-winning television adventure series Meteorite Men on Science Channel in the USA and Discovery networks around the world. He has appeared in numerous other series including American Chopper, Wired Science, Cosmic Collisions, How the Earth was Made, and The Best Places to Find Cash & Treasure. He is a widely published science writer and photographer, and the author of two books, Meteorite Hunting: How To Find Treasure From Space and his newly-published memoir, Rock Star: Adventures Of A Meteorite Man.

We're thrilled to have him on board to bring life to the character of DR. JOSH BYRNES, paranormal scientist and creator of a small arsenal of incredibly kewl, Steampunk-styled, ghost hunting gear.

Role of TODD FRANKLIN

 

Jeremiah Blakley is founder and lead investigator with ARK Paranormal Group based in southeastern New Mexico. Not only is Jeremiah a ghost hunter, but he's a talented artist and graphics whiz. He builds custom ghost hunting equipment and gives lectures and training sessions regarding the paranormal. He believes strongly that we all hava A Right to Know (ARK) about the paranormal world around us.

 

Adding Jeremiah to our cast as TODD FRANKLIN, undergrad student working with Dr. Josh Byrrnes in paranormal research, will keep us on our toes and exploring the unknown accurately and with an eye toward the future of ghost hunting.

 

 

Role of PENNY SNOW

 

Hayley Snow Klein is the Executive Director of the Artesia Chamber of Commerce in New Mexico.  She keeps things moving and cares very much about the town and the people there.  She's always on the lookout for interesting things and new ways to keep the town moving forward.  She's also got a creative streak in the acting world and appeared in the short film Contagious.

With Hayley playing PENNY SNOW, International Bureau of Investigation Agent, things will be kept moving quickly and you'll never know what might happen!

 

 

Role of KATE LOCKWOOD 

 

Rebecca Prendergast is Director of Artesia Mainstreet and has helped the town and businesses blossom and grow since she came on board.  Her sparkling personality always adds a fun touch to everything she's involved with and we know that will happen with her role in our movie, too!  She's worked a lot in front of the camera doing the mini-vids called 'Downtown Lowdown" and she's a natural!

Rebecca's portrayal of IBI Agent KATE LOCKWOOD will keep everyone on their toes and guessing what's coming next.

Suzee Corbell (writer/director)

Suzee Corbell has worked in the entertainment industry for over twenty years and has experience from the ground up. She recently ran a TV station while producing original programming for over three years. She also ran a production training program in conjunction with the TV station in order to help local students learn more about the field.

In the last several years, Suzee has created a number of short films and produced almost fifty commercials. She also worked many positions on films such as Memoirs of a Geisha, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End, G-Force, Alvin & the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked, and many others.

Alan Trever (producer)

Alan Trever has been actively involved in photography, advertising, film and television in the New Mexico for over ten years. Alan established a film program in Roswell, NM that serves as a training ground for future members of IATSE.

In 2002, Alan began serving as a local production coordinator for many films and television crews that came through Roswell, utilizing the program he created at the university. By 2003, Alan had worked in various capacities with a number of companies, such as Lion's Gate, Paramount, ABC Family, Discovery Channel and NBC.

Since then, Alan has produced numerous projects for various companies such as ESPN, Discovery, the State of New Mexico and the History Channel. He has also produced several independent features filmed in Southern New Mexico such as Ilegales, Last Stop (starring Mena Suvari and Brian Austin Green), Coyote County Loser which won “Best Comedy” at the Telluride Film Festival, Roswell FM, and The Rambler (Starring Dermot Mulroney, Natasha Lyonne and Lindsay Pulsipher).

Geoffrey Notkin is best known for his three-season stint as host of the award-winning television adventure series Meteorite Men which airs worldwide on Discovery networks. He has also filmed episodes of American Chopper, Globe Trekker, Ancient Aliens, Naked Earth, How the Earth was Made, The Best Places to Find Cash & Treasure, and has worked with NASA EDGE, TLC, Discovery, History Channel, Travel Channel, Nat Geo, PBS, and the BBC.

Geoff is a music business professional and worked in London, Boston, and New York for more than three decades as a producer, audio engineer, manager, and musician.  He is also the award-winning author of two books and hundreds of published articles on science and the arts. Quentin Day (director of photography)

Quentin Day has been called a genius when it comes to lighting a scene. If anyone can capture a look or feel for a given shot, it's "Q".  He worked his way up the ranks and is a perfectionist when it comes to getting the images needed to make the movie totally rock!

Christopher Robleto-Harvey (sound)

Christopher Robleto-Harvey has had a very busy career both behind and in front of the camera.  He has worked on video shorts, documentaries, commercials, and feature films including Prophets of Science Fiction, Red Sands, Watch Indian Circus, and Folklore.  He won the 2012 Maharastra State Award for best production sound in a feature film.

Seraphina Gonzalez is a multi-talented aspiring filmmaker from Chicago who is very passionate about cinema and has stated that she will destroy the world if "Unfinished Business" is not funded.  She is working on her own short films and is preparing to undertake producing her first documentary.

Jessica Meyers (fx make-up)

Jessica Meyers wanted us to mention that she was born across the street from an insane asylum and let that tell her story, but there's a bit more to her than that.  Jessica has been interested in special FX makeup since the age of 13 and has been teaching herself different techniques and applications, she has volunteered for different community projects such as doing makeup for the ENMU-R Theater and the Thrill the world Zombie Dance in Roswell. In the process, she has become an award winning make-up artist.  Jessica will graduate with an AA in graphic design this summer and will start her AA in Theater and Film while working on her BA.

Lyndsaye Greke (behind-the-scenes assitant editor)

Lyndsaye Greke is a long time fan of the filming industry, having worked toward a degree in film and business. She is a Canadian born and raised artist of a variety of media and has focused most of her film experience behind the scenes of independent projects such as music videos and documentaries. Lyndsaye's passion for art and love of the world of editing is leading her to do more work in the film industry.

Possible area for exterior scenes at the university where Dr. Byrnes does his paranormal research.

This would be a possibility for doing an FX shot for the very first thing you would see after the opening credits.

Using a combination of authentic, steam powered 19th-Century machine tools and selected modern equipment, I can offer you the finest in Victorian scientific apparatus. Much of my equipment and inventory were inherited directly from my husband's grandfather, Professor A.D. Conrow, a late 19th and early 20th-Century scientist and inventor. (Some would say quite mad himself!)

Although the basic look for Unfinished Business will have film noir elements, there will also be a character who has a decided flair for Steampunk. Dr. Josh Byrnes designs and builds his own paranormal gear and he's a Steampunk man at heart. Below are a series of photos of some of the vintage science equipment that belongs to Geoffrey Notkin. We will be taking this gear (and more) and turning them into Steampunk ghost-hunting equipment.  These photos are just to give you an idea of where we're starting.

Trust me, you won't be able to tell what any of this gear was when we finish with it!

The first photo is a set-up that Geoff and his friend Doc put together to search for ghostly audio signals (aka EVPs or Electronic Voice Phenomenon).  We will be adding all kinds of copper, brass, gears, steam-lines, etc., to this amazing layout.
