We also added a few perks. For $25 you get a digital download of the movie. $99 perk gets you a signed DVD from Christi and Tauru. $100 perk gets you all of the above (previous perk levels + signed DVD + digital download).
I've always been inspired by the adventurous things my old friend Christi did - traveling the world, climbing rocks and mountains - not just because they were challenging, but because she's legally blind. She and her nearly / going blind friend Tauru have just set off on their biggest adventure yet: Tandem biking the Americas.
If you're wondering how they see.. Christi is completely blind in one eye, and has blurry vision out of the other. Tauru has tunnel vision. His condition is degenerative & he will eventually go blind, so now is the time for this trip!
They are now two months into the trip, which will take them from Tierra del Fuego, Argentina to Deadhorse, Alaska over the next year and a half. They'll stop along the way to visit & share their story with schools for the visually impaired.
Please help us take this rare opportunity to share their story, both on the bike and off. We'll discuss their backgrounds & future, as well as international perspectives on blindness.
We plan to take a minimal crew to meet them for 1-2 weeks at a time, a handful of times along the way. This first campaign is for raising money to cover equipment & travel for the first half of the project.
Christi & Tauru will pedal into Santiago, Chile at the end of April. Help us raise the funds to get there!
What We Need & What You Get
We need $20,000 for:
- Equipment for my team (Professional camera (Sony FS100), mic, storage): $12,500
- Equipment for Christi & Tauru (Rugged camera (Go Pro), mic, storage): $1,000
- Minimal Travel costs for 2 for first the half of the project (Santiago, Bogota, Panama City): $6,500
- Insurance and Contingency
We want to bring this film to festivals, theaters, and to reach & inspire as many people as possible. Having the right equipment directly impacts the quality of the film, which is why we're focusing funding on the equipment. The crew is prepared to stay in tents, eat crackers, etc, in order to make this happen ;)
We offer rewards for your support! Please see the Perks panel on the right side of this page.
