Quest for the... Calendar?
In October of this year, four men will be travelling across the Atlantic Ocean to start a trek that will take then 500 miles in four gruelling weeks of walking and camping using only Medieval gear - right down to costume, heavy canvas tents, and no lighter to start the campfire at night.
We are the Wayfarers, and this is our Quest for the Cure. We are doing this out of our own pocket in order to raise $100,000 for worldwide cancer research and support, and when we approached some of the fine ladies of Suicide Girls to help us out they jumped on board without hesitation.
In our Twelve Months of Magic calendar you'll see twelve of the top alternative models from around the world - from fan-favourite Suicide Girl Kemper to newcomers like Gallows and Artemis - taking their love of fantasy to new heights and helping us out by posing as pin-ups and having fun for a great cause.
Proceeds for the calendar - once funded - will be donated to the Association for International Cancer Research (or "AICR"), a charity based on St Andrews, Scotland.
The Money Thing
With donated time and photography, we don't need that much money to get these calendars off the ground. The $2000 in donations will be broken down like so, with all numbers being fairly rough:
//$200 for fees from IndieGoGo and PayPal.
//$650 for shipping costs for 100 calendars. This is to make absolutely sure we don't have to pay out of pocket for these calendars to find their way to your door! We will be sending calendars to Americans from New York State to save cross-border shipping costs.
//$1250 for one thousand calendars to be printed, including taxes. It only takes five days, so once we're funded and all the photos are in from our (amazing!) models, your calendars will be en route - nice and simple.
Excess money will be donated directly to AICR - absolutely none of the money will be considered "profit" or "play money." None of this money will go to help fund our trip or any other fundraising endeavour; once the calendars and shipping have been paid for, every other cent goes to AICR.
We've run a number of fundraising campaigns for the Quest for the Cure in the last ten months, and have raised a decent chunk of our goal - almost $13,000 to three charities at the beginning of June. These calendars could raise over $10,000 by themselves if they are successfully sold out.
