Chip in and help send Bahir to Turkey!
My name is Graham. That picture you see above here is my friend Bahir. Do you know him? If you do, you know what a great guy he is. This is a chance for you to do something really great for our mutual friend!
Bahir has been trying to get back to Turkey to visit his family for several years now. His paperwork has finally come through, clearing the way for him to make an overdue visit.
I think Bahir has enough friends here in Saskatoon and abroad that if we all chip in a small amount, we should be able to raise enough money to fly him home for a visit. If you know Bahir, you know how meaningful that would be to him.
How you can help
Here’s the deal:
- I’m aiming to raise $2000 to cover any costs associated with a round trip flight to Turkey.
- If, in the event that we exceed our target, all excess funds will be put towards his tuition costs.
- We'll organize a surprise party once the money is raised and everyone who donates will be invited. His birthday is Dec. 22nd, so let's try to do it by then. This is a surprise! Please keep it that way!
***The person who makes the largest donation will recieve a gourmet, catered, home-cooked meal prepared and served by Bahir himself. Food and drink supplied by myself and David Woods, as negotiated by all parties.***
The Impact
For the past several months, Bahir has been studying at SIAST in the Hotel and Restaurant Management Program. In order to pay tuition, he’s also been working full time. If you’ve tried to get together with him lately you’ll have noticed that he’s never available. The guy’s on the go around the clock just to make ends meet.
To save the money needed to fly home would mean another semester of short nights and long days. If we can send him to Turkey, he can focus on school. The better he does there, the closer Saskatoon is to having a world-class Turkish restaurant. You with me?
